Urgent: Bosch help - Matt - 06-03-2013

Right so had my Bosch on, running fine apart from I only have half throttle due to a throttle cable lash up.

Any way took the stopper arm (no idea what it's called) off to cut down so I could have full throttle

Put it back together fine. Started up fine
I then realised didn't put a washer back on took it apart
Put back together now won't start

Any idea?

Can anyone see what's wrong? I have a feeling it's something to do with the spring

RE: Urgent: Bosch help - cwspellowe - 06-03-2013

Can't remember, but if it is it's because that's the cut off switch. Pop the spring the other side so it's springing the other way and see what happens.

RE: Urgent: Bosch help - Matt - 06-03-2013

So that the top part of the spring sits to the left? If so I've tried that.

Is the spring really needed? As when the cut off is furthest to the right, the spring pulls it central, it won't stay to the right with the spring in place

RE: Urgent: Bosch help - Niall - 06-03-2013

That spring doesn't really look under tension. Surely it should be?

RE: Urgent: Bosch help - Matt - 06-03-2013

Yeah this is what I'm thinking, I have no idea here the top bit slots into. And google images is failing me

RE: Urgent: Bosch help - Anton - 06-03-2013

I dont understand why you touched it.

RE: Urgent: Bosch help - Matt - 06-03-2013

Because it was stopping the throttle. Regret it now

it shouldn't have been . . . . .

RE: Urgent: Bosch help - Matt - 06-03-2013

But it was. Samass and I tried to sort the issue but meh.

Can someone take a few pictures of the fuel stop? So I can compare the springs please

RE: Urgent: Bosch help - Anton - 06-03-2013

As Matt said, that black thing on the cable should be the other side of the bracket.

Your number Matt?

RE: Urgent: Bosch help - Matt - 06-03-2013

Yeah it's a Lucas throttle cable, we cut it down. Has been running fine for 200 miles

Re: Urgent: Bosch help - Dan! - 06-03-2013

The stop arm on the front which youve taken off is on the wrong way. Its currently in the stop position. The bottom left tab wants to rest up up the bottom of the little grub screw on the left.

RE: Urgent: Bosch help - Matt - 06-03-2013

Got it on like you said, but the spring doesn't hold it.

Is it possible to f*ck the screw it all sits on?
Can I seize the pump by doing this?

Okay it started and began revving its nuts off

2k idle and throttle doesn't do anything :/

Normal idle but still throttle doesn't make a difference. Wether using the arm or pedal inside

RE: Urgent: Bosch help - Mattcheese31 - 06-03-2013

something has gone wrong inside the pump . .lol . . . . .gov related at a guess

RE: Urgent: Bosch help - puglove - 06-03-2013

You f*cking cow boy what have you done to the throttle cable. My lucus one was fine on the bosch???

RE: Urgent: Bosch help - Matt - 06-03-2013

Sam cut it down lol.

Gov related? Christ how do I fix that?

RE: Urgent: Bosch help - ConorTRG - 06-03-2013

Here's a pic of the way it should be, the bit of the spring that is pointing it should sit in a groove on the pump, where im pointing my finger towards.

RE: Urgent: Bosch help - samass - 06-03-2013

It had to be cut, the end was totally different.

RE: Urgent: Bosch help - Matt - 06-03-2013

How would the fuel stop affect the gov? Been looking at dans gov mod guide, and can't see how the two are connected?

Re: Urgent: Bosch help - Dan! - 06-03-2013

The arm on the fuel stop lever (the bit inside the pump) has a little hook part which latches around the main leverset in the pump (which the gov is also connected to) and when you pull the stop lever, the arm inside the pump pulls on the leverset and cuts the fuelling. I can only assume youve twisted that arm inside the pump to the point it wont let the leverset move. To get it bsck to normal now would just be trial and error, it really wants the top taking off and putting all back exactly as it should be.

As I took it off, what I'm guessing is the gov is loose? Like I didn't have to undo it?

Will be up bright and early to drain the pump so I can see inside.

Does that look any good dan?

Fished this out of the pump

Re: Urgent: Bosch help - Dan! - 06-03-2013

You'll be taking that pump off again tbh. Looks like the stop arm inside the pump jammed against the leverset, and when you tried to rev it the govenor shaft snapped. What you have in your hand is about 10% of the govenor assembly and the rest will be in the bottom of the pump. Pretty shit luck tbh mate, I would help out if I was closer!

RE: Urgent: Bosch help - puglove - 06-03-2013

Oh joy of joys.

All that crap you fished out the pump should all be on that shaft. And should be more of it!

RE: Urgent: Bosch help - Matt - 06-03-2013

Ffs is there no way of saving this pump? Really cba with taking it all off :/

Re: Urgent: Bosch help - Dan! - 06-03-2013

Iv dropped that little spring in the pump before and managed to fish it out with a magnetic screwdriver, but there are like 20+ bits down there, id be very surprised if you could get them all out! Undecided

RE: Urgent: Bosch help - Jonny81191 - 06-03-2013

I'd stick the Lucas back on while you source a new bosch.

Owait. The lucas you removed with a fecking hammer. That won't work Big Grin

Rip it off and take it to bits, you may be lucky.

RE: Urgent: Bosch help - Matt - 06-03-2013

Dan is there anyway this will be salvageable?

RE: Urgent: Bosch help - puglove - 06-03-2013

Matt, i might MIGHT have a spare bosch thats missing the throttle arm & cradle as well as some ancillary parts! so cheap
