Clutch - MiiTCH - 28-02-2013

The clutch on my 1.8 feels ridiculously heavy... Could this be because of a worn or knackered clutch, or are they just really heavy on these cars?

The clutch doesn't slip but I've been told they can get heavier when they are worn

If I was to replace the clutch, what brand would you recommend getting? And is it much of a job to change or would it be better going to a garage?

Could be the clutch cable

RE: Clutch - miles - 28-02-2013

Hardy ever the cable no matter what most say, It is more often than not the Bush's on the clutch arm and the arm itself, Basically the bottom of the arm goes rusty over time expanding it in the bush, You notice it more if the car isn;t used much or has been parked up in the past for a while

Box off to replace thou so while your there the clutch can be checked along with the cable, Use a OE one thou

This. The arm seized on my 1.8 completely due to the car sitting for 18 months. Had to have the box off and fit new bushes. Not what i wanted 8 days after i bought it!

It won't be the cable I've had that changed because the original one had stretched and sometimes crunched going into gear... What's the labour costs for having a clutch done? On average

RE: Clutch - Frosty - 01-03-2013

clutch would be about 4 hours ish
