one last thing will Peugeot 306 wishbones with the 18mm ball joint fit on my 1.8 xs 1997

It'll most likely be 16mm.

Depends if you have 18 or 16mm ball joints, ph2 1998 is very parts bin it could have either or on it, the only way to tell is take it off and messure
for example my 1998 S reg 6 had 16mm joints and my R reg 1998 had 18mms work that one out
