Insurance... - 4WayDiablo - 27-01-2012 a topic that makes my blood boil, so reading the "live" magazine their topic was insurance and the silly numbers that comes with it 40% increase in insurance premiums from 2010 - 2011 For every £1 paid out in compensation another 87p is paid in legal costs average cost of third party fire and theft in 2011 - 1,510....average in 1994 - £333 1,562 whiplash claims made a DAY in the uk the amount insurers earn by selling customers details on to personal-injury lawyers.... 3Billion it really makes you sick ![]() Insurance... - Matt - 27-01-2012 Wtaf! I hate insurers. Driving with no insurance ftw!!! I do have insurance. No panic ![]() Re: Insurance... - Connor - 27-01-2012 Im contemplating it come renewal... Re: Insurance... - Megamonkey - 27-01-2012 Its bloody stupid .... My quotes with admiral - With immobiliser - £1000 Without immobilser - £890 Doesn't make sense Where as Adrian flux Standard security - £3000 With thatcham 2 approved alarm £2000 What the hell! Oh also you know 6% of that price is an insurance premium tax ![]() Re: Insurance... - 4WayDiablo - 27-01-2012 Oh i also got a quote for an evo 3 for 760 quid My 306 is 1200 If i had 3k for an evo.... lol Re: Insurance... - Jenkosowls - 27-01-2012 To be fair its a vicious circle insurance and claims insurance goes up because of big claims people pursue bigger claims beacuse of increased insurance costs. However despite of this insurance companys still make massive profits for what giving you a piece of paper really. Yes theres more to it but thats what you get in affect. Over the past 4 years iv paid a total of nearly £5k for insurance which probably around 98% of that will be pure profit after no claims made on them. 2% admin costs wages letters etc but even then how many insurance companys try and charge an admin charge for swopping insurance over! (above is estimations based on no facts lol) One thing im finding interesting really is i was involved in an accident over christmas. I have now been appointed a solicitor (at £250 P/H!) to cover loss of earnings and cost iv made as a result of the accident, they are also pursuing an injury claim to which at no point have i mentioned a whiplash injury they have assumed i have with the injurys i have given them. My insurance have said i have got it and so too have the doctors. so the insurance and solicitors are pretty much encouraging whiplash claims, and more than likely moaning when a claim is made against it (vicious circle again) Now i was involved in an accident where i was hit from behind at around 30mph and did have injuries mainly a knee injury due to being on the foot brake at the time. I was then nudged into the back of a big old saab at less than 5mph which sustained no damage. The driver and there passengers are trying to claim for whiplash and more injuries than i actually had and i was the one who took the biggest hit! But as mentioned in the op its not actually the compensation that puts prices up its the solicitor and insurance fees that bump it all up too! so lets say a compensation of £5k was given an extra £4,300 is paid in fees so thats a total of £9,300 there before cost of repairs or write offs. my policy covers upto £150,000 in legal fees that shows how ridiculous its getting now. Re: Insurance... - declantg - 27-01-2012 I used to work for swinton motor insurance and some of the stuff that goes on you really would not believe. As employees we were encouraged to push higher prices on to every single customer and never offer much discount. Also had to make sure nearly every customer took out breakdown and all sorts. thinking about it is sickening. Re: Insurance... - kingy - 27-01-2012 what can you do about it. nothing. we just have to grin and bare it. same as fuel prices. its rediculous. what would happen if every motorist stopped driving? then what would happen?. they would find another way of introducing some kind of stealth tax to recupe the money. basicly, we are doomed. no win situation all round. bad one. Re: Insurance... - Hitchos - 27-01-2012 £270 fully comp i cant really complain Re: Insurance... - Foxy-jim - 27-01-2012 It is a vicous circle as mentioned before! But as kingy said, if i want to drive then I need to pay for it so its what we all have to do! Re: Insurance... - kingy - 27-01-2012 if you got a derv you can always run it on cherry and make a claim every year for whiplash to help pay for your insurance. sorted. oh, hang on a minute, i drive a petrol. head, palm. Re: Insurance... - Foxy-jim - 27-01-2012 Petrol ftw! Re: Insurance... - kingy - 27-01-2012 ^^agreed. but the dirty deisels do make a very nice noise. and cheap on insurance. and tax. and more mpg. hang on a minute, i think i know where im going wrong. got it, i should have got a 6 instead  Re: Insurance... - Foxy-jim - 27-01-2012 You do had a '6!
