Revived; TMIC cooling options - ginge191 - 22-02-2013

So i need cooling for the 205, i was looking at bonnet lining, but had a look at a 205 and 306 lining and both seem to be, well, 'meh' is about all i can say, so need alternative cooling...

I was looking at using a SMIC for the setup, found one from a pajero and thought in total, it has about the same cooling capacity as a TMIC, yes it's deeper, but our's are wider.

I've got a couple of pics, any sort of photoshops would be awesome, as subtle as possible please

all attempts repped!

You could even try the old desk fan approach?

Or failing that, stop being cheap and go for one of these.

Unfortunately the evo vents havn't got a lot of direction for air flow, and would (i assume) just flow a breeze, i'm after a bit more of a shot onto the intercooler Smile

Photoshop - bonnet scoop, no, seriously.. - Jukie88 - 23-02-2013

Just cut the bonnet with a grinder down two sidesaddle a across like an outline of the tmic then bend the bonnet backwards so air flows directly onto the intercooler and mesh the gap so no stones etc smash it ???

I think this is what I'm going to do with the spare bonnet I have until I put fmic on

Looks a bit pish.

Only scoop allowed on a 205 is an original T16 jobby.

RE: Photoshop - bonnet scoop, no, seriously.. - puglove - 01-03-2013

Just do what they have done with the matt black sedan. Cut 3 sides of a rectangle and fold it down over tmic lmao

RE: Photoshop - bonnet scoop, no, seriously.. - ginge191 - 01-03-2013

As awesome as the T16 vent is, it's fairly pointless in relation to the TMIC Doh

That is perfect! where is this from?!

RE: Photoshop - bonnet scoop, no, seriously.. - puglove - 02-03-2013

its that SonnyRoby guy from romainia

RE: Photoshop - bonnet scoop, no, seriously.. - ginge191 - 02-03-2013

Ah ok, i might pm him about it, see how/where he got it from Smile

RE: Photoshop - bonnet scoop, no, seriously.. - puglove - 02-03-2013

IIRC he go it from his angle grinde lmao think its just a tidy hole cut in the bonnet, i wouldnt cut the back edge though and fold it down to direct the wind back at the IC though. then a bit of that U shspped rubber trim around the edges

RE: Photoshop - bonnet scoop, no, seriously.. - samass - 03-03-2013

Thing with that, is that its not actually going to get any significant amount of airflow through it, and thwres nothing directing it in. It'll work a bit, but the major of the air will just skip over the top

RE: Photoshop - bonnet scoop, no, seriously.. - puglove - 03-03-2013

Nah you dont know what your talking about lol

RE: Photoshop - bonnet scoop, no, seriously.. - samass - 03-03-2013

Nah, I do a bit

RE: Photoshop - bonnet scoop, no, seriously.. - puglove - 04-03-2013

May be a little . Bit if you stick your hand out the window and flap it about abit that will direct tye air into the hole. Gigity.

(thats hand out the window not cock)

RE: Revived; TMIC cooling options - ginge191 - 19-07-2013

Ok, so i'm reviving this with a slightly different title.

I'm noticing BAD heat soak and related boosting issues with the lack of cooling to the TMIC.

Possibly a bonnet lining would suffice? but would prefer an alternative; i know the scoops are an option; a grinder and a vent isn't too hard to install, but visually a bit gash.
I understand that a couple of mist jets could be of use also; but how much do they/can they actually cool the TMIC.

Any other ideas would be awesome!
