what causes battery to drain overnight,i have switched of ignition but can still hear clicking as if there is a live feed somewhere.thanks for any help given.

RE: battery - Piggy - 12-02-2013

where is the clicking coming from...sounds like a dodgy relay...could be number of things but probably related to bad corroded wiring/connections/earth or all the above

RE: battery - Toms306 - 12-02-2013

Probably a light (boot light), stereo or amp usually. Clicking might not be related.

Moved to the correct section Smile

Could be anything. Could just be a bad battery. Easiest way to tell, take the neg terminal off the battery and bridge the neg terminal on the battery and the neg lead with a multimeter set to amps and see what it reads when the car is not in use then start unplugging after market fitted things like stereo, amp etc and see what causes it to drop down substantially.

how fast is the battery draining? if its within a couple of hours my money would be on heater plug relay (if your car is a diesel?)

either that or you have a sub in the boot?
