Engine swap - Zippy121 - 04-02-2013 Hi all, just a bit of advice regarding an engine swap. My ZX Volcane TD engine has just expired and I've sourced a low mileage 306 TD replacement with all ancillaries and pump. Question is as my car has a factory key pad immobiliser will I encounter any problems trying to start the new engine etc? The engine swap isn't a problem but the electronic parts are a concern, any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance David RE: Engine swap - londondan86 - 04-02-2013 The immobiliser just stops the 12v feed to the stop solenoid so in theory if you match it up like for like it should be fine. If you do have problems just run a switched live to the solenoid RE: Engine swap - Zippy121 - 04-02-2013 Londondan, Thanks, I was thinking along those lines nut wasn't sure tbh Much appreciated. RE: Engine swap - Anton - 04-02-2013 Zippy what reg is your ZX? Mine hasn't got a keypad immobiliser but my phase 1 306 did have. RE: Engine swap - Zippy121 - 04-02-2013 Hi it's 1996 on an "N" plate RE: Engine swap - puglove - 04-02-2013 Find an ignition live and wire that to the soliniod . Bit better than a permanat live RE: Engine swap - johnnytsa - 04-02-2013 Was going to say that. If uve any problems find an ignition live, you'll get one over beside The battery where the fuse box is. Atthough you should be able to use the standard wires. RE: Engine swap - Zippy121 - 04-02-2013 Thanks to all, engine will be delivered hopefully on Friday, I'm going to fit a new clutch & timing belt kit before fitting it. May take a weekend or two as I'm going to be working outside (weather permitting) and I have another car to use for the meantime. I'll let you know how I get on, thanks again for the info :-) RE: Engine swap - Anton - 04-02-2013 Ahh mines a 94 L with no keypad |
