RE: 2.1GTd....1000kg... - darrenjlobb - 19-07-2015 Quite a neat little bolt on actually that is, looks to be a good little upgrade for the XUD, if I hadn't gone DI id be tempted myself as XUD is a never ending heat pump! Don't think id have plumbed it quite like you have, but either way nice upgrade. RE: 2.1GTd....1000kg... - Piggy - 19-07-2015 Lots of options plumbing wise were considered and I took advice from those offering it and looked over lots of service box diagrams. What would you have done chap?? RE: 2.1GTd....1000kg... - ADV_93 - 24-07-2015 Bought a GT2056S the other week, only to find it was the one you originally fitted to this... That wants a cartridge/full rebuild! RE: 2.1GTd....1000kg... - bashbarnard - 24-07-2015 I had one of piggys turbos at one point his gt2259 seems like youre a turbo pimp man. RE: 2.1GTd....1000kg... - Piggy - 24-07-2015 You should have kept that 2259 bash!!! RE: 2.1GTd....1000kg... - bashbarnard - 24-07-2015 I know. ![]() RE: 2.1GTd....1000kg... - ADV_93 - 24-07-2015 (24-07-2015, 07:23 PM)bashbarnard Wrote: I know. Just started slipping with current setup a bigger turbo and it may just disintegrate RE: 2.1GTd....1000kg... - Dum-Dum - 25-07-2015 Defo go for a 59 on the 2.1, big boys turbo. In the best way possible. Love the colour coding in the engine bay. I dont know another car community out there where this many things get tried. Its like hey theres this turbo i fancy it doesn't fit but let weld something up make it fit and see what happens RE: 2.1GTd....1000kg... - Dum-Dum - 26-07-2015 (26-07-2015, 05:53 PM)bashbarnard Wrote: Ita true though. Lol Seriously though probably the wealth of info on here helps. RE: 2.1GTd....1000kg... - ADV_93 - 26-07-2015 (26-07-2015, 05:53 PM)bashbarnard Wrote: Ita true though. There's no end to what can be done to them. And what some people do to these old IDI engine is epic. RE: 2.1GTd....1000kg... - DemonDriverDan - 27-07-2015 Good job! I've been thinking putting a smaller rad on the race car for better airflow to the ITBs but haven't decided yet RE: 2.1GTd....1000kg... - highwayman306 - 27-07-2015 With regards to your grille Piggy, have you looked at other options? I have a meshed grille on my car shown in sig below...just an option, although you may have already looked into that ![]() RE: 2.1GTd....1000kg... - Piggy - 27-07-2015 Not a fan of the max power mesh I'm afraid. Updates coming soon RE: 2.1GTd....1000kg... - highwayman306 - 27-07-2015 I didn't think you were...im not a fan of mine lol...my next question would have been do you wanna buy it hahaha ![]() Your cars looking sweet btw, rad route and pipes are looking neat ![]() RE: 2.1GTd....1000kg... - Piggy - 29-07-2015 https://youtu.be/rfPxNTOyQs0 RE: 2.1GTd....1000kg... - Dum-Dum - 29-07-2015 Videos are good as ever mate, you did make me laugh with the 3 important things of working indoors, 1) the missus is out, 2) slippers, 3) arms reach of the kettle ![]() RE: 2.1GTd....1000kg... - HDi--Power - 29-07-2015 Two things you did wrong, no water and you forgot heat. You cant use soapy water on modern day vinyls like that, they go on dry and thats it. And its a cast vinyl so you use a heat gun to stretch it and then you heat it to the temp specified by the manufacturer to release the vinyl memory and it wont peel off. A bit of 3m vinyl primer on the edges will ensure it never comes off ![]() RE: 2.1GTd....1000kg... - 1616six - 29-07-2015 As mentioned, you only need heat, plenty of it. Don't need any form of water/soap solution. These vinyls you can literally screw up, heat up and bring it back to perfectly fine again. Why didn't you remove the mirror caps to wrap them? I've wrapped countless body panels and mirror caps, never once had the sun shrink it down. No one see the heatgun!? I did remove them. Hence why one is good and the other isnt. The one that wasnt just didnt have enough to wrap it right round! A bit of 3m vinyl primer on the edges will ensure it never comes off Yeah the primer for edges maybe a good idea next time. I did use heat though, but late on. A few guides online were like "NO HEAT" and others were like "USE HEAT"... I did use it, just late on! (the heat gun was there, part 1 shows bits I used) and the soapy water is from the last time I did vinyl/stickers on rally cars about 7 years ago! RE: 2.1GTd....1000kg... - HDi--Power - 29-07-2015 Did you set the vinyl though with the heat gun once all fitted? Sadly the use of water may make it all peel off or have little bubbles appear over the next few months :/ RE: 2.1GTd....1000kg... - welshpug - 29-07-2015 I've used water without any issues, only ever used heat if it needed stretching a little bit though I left that to the boss. |
