Hell yes So much more fun than a 1.9 and TBH you can take off the cost of all the consumables and the FMIC and the clutch as it needed all those and you can take off the cost of the HDi box and FMIC cos id of done that to a HDi anyway and you can take off the labour cos thats what the HG would of cost anyway so really the only cost of the engine swap over what it needed/was getting anyway was the engine itself. Fooby wasn't driving properly then, or his GTI was broken, if you could keep up easily. T2's on Bosches are nothing more than mild. And at 25psi and with a weight disadvantage as you say... Don't try and make out the DT was something it certainly wasn't. And when it comes to TD tuning, with two different engines its like comparing apples and oranges. Two of the same engine, with maybe different turbos, will be a good reflection on what works and what doesn't, but even that is subjective. One might be a torque monster and the other a screaming bhp machine. When you compare the 1.9 to the 2.1 you can't really get a good comparison going. In standard form aye, but when you tune both of them you're working to different goals. By the time they're both tuned they'll be completely different animals. You could gov the 1.9 up to 6krpm but the 2.1 wouldn't like it, so why bother? You can't tune them the same way, so you can't really make a direct comparison. Fuel pumps would be set to deliver differently, turbos would be different... And fooby was trying, t2 were and still are good turbo's. For the 1.9 engines, it's just now we know t25, tdo4's and gt turbos are better. RE: The 2.1TD Bianca Sedan - Dum-Dums Project Cheap - Mattcheese31 - 15-12-2012 we know now that you can make about 150bhp on a k14 or T2 with some pump and exhaust mods and plenty more torques than a 6 . . ![]() RE: The 2.1TD Bianca Sedan - Dum-Dums Project Cheap - Pompey306mark - 15-12-2012 We knew that two years ago, if not longer. I never got around to dyno'ing my car at full power but went on its last legs and a tester who bogged it down loads it still maybe a healthy 135 and the run was free. A month later the engine was in pieces, planned not blown up, we had movement in the positions and a not to happy t2. And I was on my best behaviour because Mazz was in the car.... lol RE: The 2.1TD Bianca Sedan - Dum-Dums Project Cheap - Pompey306mark - 16-12-2012 I was not talking about on the way home. This was on one of the few times I took people out in the car around Coventry. On the way home I was not racing anyone, we were speeding off, then slowing down then, someone else would speed off and someone else would go catch up, then we would all slow down to let fooby catch and you catch up. Plus jimmy was in a rallye, which we all know is the better version of the 6. Eds right, these gtis are pretty crap in the sense that if you plant your foot at a low rpm, you can basically say good bye to good acceleration. you really have to know how to use these 6 boxes well! RE: The 2.1TD Bianca Sedan - Dum-Dums Project Cheap - Kwik - 16-12-2012 have you never heard of turbo lag? you stomp your foot down and it bogs down with a cloud of smoke.......... Regardless of type of engine diesel, petrol, turbo, normally aspirated if you don't use the gears to get the engine load right it will be crap acceleration heck that's why we have these things called a gearbox ![]() The thing is you keep spouting about which cars better but each has their own strength and weaknesses.
