Re: Niall's 2000 306 XS A.K.A Craig - Niall - 24-03-2012 Right we all like photos. Mainly because if you own a 306, your clearly not intelligent enough to read! Unfortunately I haven't taken any photos...I got too carried away with work! Anyway, valves are all ground in, exhaust ports are nearly all sorted. Just inlet ports that will be done tomorrow. Monday morning after a trip to mcdonnalds, I will start taking the car apart to get the new head on! Exciting stuff Re: Niall's 2000 306 XS A.K.A Craig - Toby - 24-03-2012 Niall Wrote:Right we all like photos. Mainly because if you own a 396, your clearly not intelligent enough to read! Niall looking fit as always lol ![]() Re: Niall's 2000 306 XS A.K.A Craig - Niall - 24-03-2012 Haha great photo....only just got all the grinding paste off my face! Re: Niall's 2000 306 XS A.K.A Craig - samass - 25-03-2012 you almost make it look like grinding in valves isnt fun!! ![]() Re: Niall's 2000 306 XS A.K.A Craig - Niall - 26-03-2012 Right slight bit of bad news. Things have taken longer than expected which means that the head won't be going on this week. Decided that I'm going to wait till mid April after camping etc and book 2 days off, then do it over a long weekend. Good thing is I would have been payed by then so can buy more parts that can be done whilst its in pieces like my broken engine mounts. Better go and buy another 5 litres of oil for it to burn :? Re: Niall's 2000 306 XS A.K.A Craig - samass - 26-03-2012 that sucks man, but like you said, atleast you'll be able to do a bunch of other jobs at the same time. want me to pick up some cheapy oil from b&q for you? got that staff discount... seeing as it'll probably burn it all anyway... Re: Niall's 2000 306 XS A.K.A Craig - C.A.R. - 27-03-2012 This sucks mate. My 1.8 burned oil for fun too, but that was 'rings. I went to the Cat and Fiddle meet and got comments on how quick my diesel was though, people kept asking me what remap it had and why it was so loud. It wasn't a diesel, it just smoked like a choo choo Re: Niall's 2000 306 XS A.K.A Craig - Niall - 27-03-2012 This is defiantly burning from the valve guide seals. Tbh it won't get a huge amount of use between now and the new head going on. My fault for not grinding the valves in properly. Did a leaks test on them yesterday and a few were leaking so still need more grinding. Re: Niall's 2000 306 XS A.K.A Craig - Niall - 28-03-2012 So went back tiling life yesterday as the exhaust was a bit loud for my liking. Had him put a centre silencer in and it's absolutely spot on now and the pops and bangs you get when you let off the throttle past 5k are absolutely epic! Also had him put a new tip on it as the one I originally had looked ok when he held it up to the car but looked lost in the bumper. ![]() ![]() Oh and retrimmed one of my door cards in suede. Colour is a bit lighter than I would of liked so not sure if to keep it. Also needs redoing as I messed a bit up by the door handle ![]() Re: Niall's 2000 306 XS A.K.A Craig - Niall - 01-04-2012 Nokia a bit of photo whoring really. Nothing has really happened to the car other the last week. The pile of parts have grown though lol ![]() ![]() Realised how much my car needs more lows. Desperately! Will Definately be taking a trip to krisB before FCS! Re: Niall's 2000 306 XS A.K.A Craig - 4WayDiablo - 01-04-2012 haha i was thinking the same thing before you said it down there needs more lows! gunna be scraping that splitter everywhere though so make sure is on like a goodun Re: Niall's 2000 306 XS A.K.A Craig - Niall - 01-04-2012 There really flexible so it's not to bad. And not too many speed bumps around here so were all good. Unless I need to get onto grants drive to work on it there. Then I'm screwed! Re: Niall's 2000 306 XS A.K.A Craig - Grant - 01-04-2012 Your just jealous! You know your car is low enough if it struggles to get on my drive... Benchmark! Re: Niall's 2000 306 XS A.K.A Craig - Niall - 10-04-2012 Right car is back from the body shop after someone breaking my nice new front bumper ![]() Also got some other bits of body work done whilst it was in there. Head willbe going on weekend after next with new belt and pump and then it just needs lowering then its ready for FCS! Pics later when I'm home. Re: Niall's 2000 306 XS A.K.A Craig - Niall - 10-04-2012 Damage is fixed! ![]() Well except for a broken hockey stick as he couldn't get one in time. Will get sorted soon. Also whist it was in, I had him do a bit of work for me that I was going to get done before FCS. Both doors have been sprayed and all dents removed and blended into rear quarters. Just need the roof doing and the body work will be finished. ![]() ![]() Re: Niall's 2000 306 XS A.K.A Craig - samass - 11-04-2012 daaaaaaaaaaaaaaamn shiney! ![]() glad its all sorted mate! Re: Niall's 2000 306 XS A.K.A Craig - Niall - 20-04-2012 Good progress made today. Started at 7:30 this morning grinding two more valves in. Had the head fully built up by 8:30 then onto taking the car apart! (after a cup of coffee and a bacon sandwich of course!) By 10:00 I was faced with this ![]() And by lunch... ![]() Cleaned up the block, fitted the new water pump, tensioner and idler and got a few other little jobs done. Given up for the afternoon now as its pissing down but hopefully get the new head on first thing tomorrow and have her back up and running by the evening!
