RE: Matts Onyx Rallye. RR Preparation begins! - Piggy - 08-10-2014 Glad you're ok. whats the RR preperation then? Just pray it makes more than 150bhp?! ![]() RE: Matts Onyx Rallye. RR Preparation begins! - Matt-Rallye - 08-10-2014 Anything it makes over 140 is a bonus too me ![]() RR preparation is sort front suspension, new spark plugs, and get the brembos fitted, lower the front anda then get the tracking done. Then hopefully sort a lowered axle ready for it too fail its MOT on the 23rd ![]() RE: Matts Onyx Rallye. RR Preparation begins! - welshpug - 08-10-2014 bin them wanky budgets man, nearly time for winter daps! RE: Matts Onyx Rallye. RR Preparation begins! - Matt-Rallye - 08-10-2014 Shes coming off the road after the MOT for the winter but it will be having my spare set of 195-55-15 hankook snow tyres fitted in case the HDi lets e down and leaves me with no choice but to use it. RE: Matts Onyx Rallye. RR Preparation begins! - Piggy - 08-10-2014 Whatever!!!! Keep that thing on the road...be a main reason to own one for me...winter tyres, snow and a rallye...perfic!!! RE: Matts Onyx Rallye. RR Preparation begins! - welshpug - 08-10-2014 its not a ferrari, just use it :p RE: Matts Onyx Rallye. RR Preparation begins! - Matt-Rallye - 08-10-2014 Its worth 2-3 times more than my HDi, i will give zero fucks if i slam dunk the HDi into a wall in the snow as its just a shitty diesel 306 at the end of the day. you all might be hell bent on killing off rallyes but i really cannot imagine much worse than driving one in shit weather! RE: Matts Onyx Rallye. RR Preparation begins! - Piggy - 08-10-2014 When I hear "dont wana drive my rallye in the snow in case I bin it"... My brain translates that to: "dont wana drive my rallye in the snow coz don't know how to drive like a boss in the snow" ![]() RE: Matts Onyx Rallye. RR Preparation begins! - Toms306 - 08-10-2014 Its not his driving that's the problem though (well, might be lol) its everyone else on the road! My village has been flooded today, but we were all blocked in because someone crashed in the middle of the puddle! ![]() ![]() RE: Matts Onyx Rallye. Precisely this! i live at the bottom of a hill in wales, which means i winter time its asking for trouble to park outside my own gaff! RE: Matts Onyx Rallye. RR Preparation begins! - ozonehostile - 09-10-2014 You're a fucker for sending me that message saying i've crashed the rallye haha, I was there making a mental note of what tools I had in the estate ready for a recovery mission haha RE: Matts Onyx Rallye. RR Preparation begins! - Matt-Rallye - 09-10-2014 Aha i wound alot of people up with that! ![]() ![]() Many thanks to zakk for dropping these off to me at work with the new fittings to enable me to run standard 306 flexis ![]() ![]() RE: Matts Onyx Rallye. RR Preparation begins! - osm2121 - 09-10-2014 Nice mate!! I wanna see how those look behind the Cyclones!! You´re leaving them that way? Or gonna paint them? RE: Matts Onyx Rallye. RR Preparation begins! - Matt-Rallye - 10-10-2014 So apparently brembos don't fit behind cyclones? Stupid sideways iPhone picture.. But you get the jist. That's 288mm xantia discs (brand new) coupled with the brembos obviously and 20mm spacers. RE: Matts Onyx Rallye. RR Preparation begins! - Dum-Dum - 10-10-2014 Would they fit with smaller spacers so they actually fit in the arches? RE: Matts Onyx Rallye. RR Preparation begins! - Matt-Rallye - 10-10-2014 They sit perfectly flush with the arch bro ![]() RE: Matts Onyx Rallye. RR Preparation begins! - Matt-Rallye - 13-10-2014 Well these brembos are squealy! (insert nialls sarcastic comment here ![]() But f*ck me sideways they stop the car now! just need to finish the suspension and sort some grippy rubber for the front end, then i can continue the hunt for more powers ![]() RE: Matts Onyx Rallye. RR Preparation begins! - Piggy - 13-10-2014 so what is with these brembos being so squealy? Is it because you cant get them up to temp? or that the pads vibrate too much in the sliders?! I cant understand why they would be so bad?! I be interesting to see how much scrubbing there is to the tyre corner from the wing edge though ![]() RE: Matts Onyx Rallye. RR Preparation begins! - Dum-Dum - 14-10-2014 The squeal is something to do with the resonant frequency of the disc and the ally caliper IIRC. If you go to bigger discs or 2 peice discs then it goes as you loose the resonant frequency RE: Matts Onyx Rallye. RR Preparation begins! - Matt-Rallye - 14-10-2014 I thought it was to do with the iffy offset of the disc? Think I need to be using 406 discs ideally RE: Matts Onyx Rallye. RR Preparation begins! - Ruan - 14-10-2014 Yeah, it's because the Xantia V6 disc is like a gnats chuff the wrong offset IIRC. RE: Matts Onyx Rallye. RR Preparation begins! - Matt-Rallye - 14-10-2014 Ah thank you Ruan ![]() RE: Matts Onyx Rallye. RR Preparation begins! - 7057sam - 14-10-2014 I had the brembo on the rallye people could heard me everywhere at combe and pug fest. Weird fact try hoonin it in reverse and brake they never squal ![]() RE: Matts Onyx Rallye. RR Preparation begins! - welshpug - 14-10-2014 406 discs are a no go on 306 hubs, hence the use of 288x28. even the 305mm discs squeal. RE: Matts Onyx Rallye. RR Preparation begins! - osm2121 - 14-10-2014 (14-10-2014, 08:49 PM)7057sam Wrote: I had the brembo on the rallye people could heard me everywhere at combe and pug fest.Must have something to do with pot sizes then, as when you do reverse and brake, the little pots brake first. Maybe fitting them crossed, left on right, and right on left solve the squealing ![]() But I guees it´ll f@ck up the pads, or brake a lot less, or who knows. But, maybe is worth trying ![]() RE: Matts Onyx Rallye. RR Preparation begins! - Piggy - 14-10-2014 Squealing is often due to brake dust build up. Which will only happen on one edge of the pad. Reversing thus has a different (and cleaner) leading edge on the pads (not saying this is the brembo issue but its 9/10 times been the problem when I or workmates had investigated brake squeal) RE: Matts Onyx Rallye. RR Preparation begins! - 7057sam - 14-10-2014 even tryed mouting the calipers up side down and still squaled. I got some genuine pug parts which where suspose to stop the noise but never got round to finding out. RE: Matts Onyx Rallye. RR Preparation begins! - Matt-Rallye - 14-10-2014 Yeah I noticed they don't squeal in reverse ![]() How come 406 discs are a no go? I will investigate further on Saturday, obviously it's braking more with one side to begin with which is causing the squeal. Hopefully the issue can be solved with some slight shimming somewhere ![]() RE: Matts Onyx Rallye. RR Preparation begins! - 306Dan - 14-10-2014 i think the offset of 406 discs is different to the 306 ones |
