Tbh playing around will be fun anyway, even of I do get a '6 engine in the end I can't see it being for a while yet haha

Re: matts xsi euro project - Foxy-jim - 26-02-2012

Keep the xsi and make it quicker!

matts xsi euro project - Matt - 26-02-2012

Xsi is staying, but having a '6 engine maybe, I've got a new exhaust to go on, it's a '6 manifold '6 exhaust and another system, looks good. Not many things I've looked into yet tbh may see of the gti cams would fit and run okay

Re: matts xsi euro project - Foxy-jim - 26-02-2012

Just do that! Or buy fast road cams and make it quicker!

Re: matts xsi euro project - Niall - 26-02-2012

Gti cams will make it run like shit. If you can remap it to match though then it will be fine!

matts xsi euro project - Matt - 26-02-2012

I have an ecu with a 150ish map already. Wonder if that will work

Matt Wrote:I have an ecu with a 150ish map already. Wonder if that will work

Highly doubt it. Wait till you can get a remap mate.

matts xsi euro project - Matt - 26-02-2012

Hmmm where could I get a remap for the xsi? Couldn't I use a unlocked gti ecu?

Re: matts xsi euro project - Carlos182 - 26-02-2012

Watch this space

Re: matts xsi euro project - Foxy-jim - 27-02-2012

Don't go diesel! Genuinely can't wait to this this in person!

matts xsi euro project - Matt - 27-02-2012

High boost gti6??? Nah haha

Cheers mate. Hopefully will be starting the respray soon, as because I've known about respraying I've not been fussed about bumping things(mainly trolleys around carparks) so have beaten bumpers, keying down either side bent arch, little dents in door and both wings. It's not much to look at close up, but from a reasonable distance or in the dark looks fapping epic. Going to get the angle grinder out and cut my rear arches down. Going to space out the rear wheels by another 5mm so bringing it to 25mm rear Big Grin

Cannot wait to get this started now Big Grin

Re: matts xsi euro project - Foxy-jim - 27-02-2012

Don't cut the arches, it will weaken them. Just roll them!

Re: matts xsi euro project - Poodle - 27-02-2012

Fair play bud, will get it sorted today then. Smile

Won't weaken the arches much if it's done right, put a lip on it and some weld in the right places, she'll be reet.

matts xsi euro project - Matt - 27-02-2012

Rolling arches is for pussys. Real men cut them Big Grin

Re: matts xsi euro project - Dum-Dum - 27-02-2012

Matt dont cut the arches, I have an arch roller.

Re: matts xsi euro project - Connor - 27-02-2012

Yeah really dont cut the lips off... Will turn the panels into cheese

Re: matts xsi euro project - Foxy-jim - 27-02-2012

Me and Connor agree on something...

I will need use of this, as everyone is telling me not too haha.
Maybe even a little bit of flaring lol

Re: matts xsi euro project - Foxy-jim - 27-02-2012

Flaring ftw! I may be getting mine done this week!

Right picked up a recently refurbished xsi head and engine mount from poodle today. Going to strip the head back, give it a skim and pressure test, re fit.
Then I need to buy all the relevant gaskets, spark plugs and a water pump and cambelt tensioner, then I'm ready to take my engine apart for my rebuild project in the summer Smile
This will be updated with pictures as soon as I get a bloody wifi signal!!

Matt I'm doing exactly the same at the moment. Take a look at my progress blog and keep an eye over the next month. New head should be on by end of march Smile

Phone me when you do it and I will explain. It's easy to strip down the head

matts xsi euro project - Matt - 29-02-2012

Cheers mate. Prob wont be for a few weeks yet. Got to get some money together for skimming Smile

Re: matts xsi euro project - 4WayDiablo - 01-03-2012

Re: matts xsi euro project - Poodle - 03-03-2012

EDIT: FLOL at Niall's new name.lol

Re: matts xsi euro project - Foxy-jim - 06-03-2012
