If it's £10 per bolt for the head and you need 10 of them, then £120 including the HG isn't that bad.

RE: Matts rallye project - Dum-Dum - 14-07-2012

how much would lynx bum ra*e you to fit all that?

RE: Matts rallye project - Scott - 14-07-2012

Depends on if you're supplying your own lube or will you be buying that too?

whistle

RE: Matts rallye project - Niall - 14-07-2012

That's well pricy for the bolts and HG.
As I said Matt, gates belt kits go for about £90 on eBay. Might seem pricy but you don't want to skimp otherwise you might end up with a broken belt......oh wait!

RE: Matts rallye project - Matt - 14-07-2012

Can get the bolts alot cheaper from Ecp. Tbh I might just say to rich ill take the lot. And maybe querie into how much to fit lol

He wants to be their only bum love victim.

RE: Matts rallye project - Fozzy - 14-07-2012

Was there any receipt of purchasing the cam belt at all?

RE: Matts rallye project - Matt - 14-07-2012

Yeah, gates kit and waterpump. Dec 2011.

Shocking right?

RE: Matts rallye project - Fozzy - 14-07-2012

Yeah quite, ide be tempted if still possible and make out the make of the belt but from looks of it the belt is too far gone

RE: Matts rallye project - Matt - 14-07-2012

When it comes off I'll see what it is. Terrible bit of kit. Got to bank transfer some money for my stuff and then pick it up from lynx Smile

RE: Matts rallye project - mark_airey - 14-07-2012

£10 a f*cking bolt! WTAF XUD ones are like £20 a set of 10.................... GTi tax or what?

My thoughts exactly...

& =O at that belt!! Looks like the one it rolled out of the factory with!

RE: Matts rallye project - Niall - 15-07-2012

Don't forget if a tensioner seized, the belt would of been rubbing against it and the heat would of caused that to happen!

RE: Matts rallye project - Matt - 21-07-2012

Right new days cambelt kit and a very sexuall mls head gasket arrived from lynx today.

Just waiting on some shineyness.
Then the head is going in for a skim and pressure test on Monday.
Will have it back Friday. Somehow got to pick it up with no car haha

And then we will be all good for Saturday.

Next month: pro race 1.2s in red and solid rear mounts. Just need payday Big Grin

RE: Matts rallye project - Poodle - 21-07-2012

Fooks sake, where do you want me to pick it up from? Rolleyes Tongue

RE: Matts rallye project - Matt - 24-07-2012

Lol it's in Poole Big Grin haha I'm insured on the gfs car now so hopefully be able to pick it up.

It's getting skimmed, pressure tested, new valves, new stem seals and a nice clean and polish. So will be nicely rebuilt Smile can't wait to have her all together and running. I miss driving her now!

RE: Matts rallye project - 4WayDiablo - 24-07-2012

You bought a HG from lynx? How's the backside now? :-P

RE: Matts rallye project - Matt - 25-07-2012

If you saw it, you know it would be worth the bum!

It will be hard to see when the is a block on one side and a head on the other though Tongue

RE: Matts rallye project - Ruan - 25-07-2012

Please say you didn't spend £120 on a head gasket and bolts...

I paid the same for uprated heat treated head studs and a multi layer steel head gasket.... They're nigh on the same items for GTIs as XUD9s, the GTi6s bolts are a few mill shorter...

Bolts should be about £15-20 a set...

RE: Matts rallye project - Matt - 25-07-2012

May have over spent slightly.....

I got a lightened Pully, mls headgasket (which is litterally 3 sheets of thin steel riveted together), head bolts which are the ones they use on s/c engines (not sure if any different tbf) and a cambelt kit for £280 delivered, I know it's abit overpriced but it's good stuff IMO

On a side note, looks like the old stem seals are going in, and going to have to risk it :/ bloody engineering company are useless and know I have a short time scale!

RE: Matts rallye project - Ruan - 25-07-2012

Yeah, 3 layers of steel riveted together, just like they are for an XUD! The bolts won't be any different unless they're actually ARPs...

£280 is going it a bit really IMHO...
