RE: Vivaro camper Van conversion - cully - 04-04-2017

Im so glad i raised my concern as I have just been out and measured some voltages

from Chassis to Neutral i could measure 110volts
from chassis to live i could measure 110volts

hmm that would give you a nasty tickle

so I have now installed a link on the Inverter supply neutral to earth/chassis
this has given me an earth path via the van chassis

taking the same measurements again they were
from Chassis to Neutral i could measure 0volts
from chassis to live i could measure 220volts

I am a lot happier now the van will be a lot more safe running the inverter
and as an added bonus

the socket tester is ticking all the correct box's
before it was showing NO Earth!

RE: Vivaro camper Van conversion - cully - 06-04-2017

the final part of the electrical jigsaw turned up today, the 12v control panel,
which is now all wired in and working
only thing left electrical now is to wire in the Tap and pump for the water
until i want to change or add stuff!

and the rats nest behind the panel

Makes sense you're a sparky now, getting your head around all that.

time for cupboard doors
had to do some thinking on the two large lower doors as i wouldnt be able to swing them open with the bed in the way
so i made them into lift off panels the very top one hinge's upwards

no handles yet!

RE: Vivaro camper Van conversion - bashbarnard - 11-04-2017

fricken hell i dont look at this thread for a while and boom its had loads done!! you dont hang around sir

RE: Vivaro camper Van conversion - cully - 12-04-2017

pondering beds, seats, fold out shit today i came up with a plan!

remember the breif from the last post!

"I want a 6ft by 46" bed is to fit within a 800mmx800mmx 46" area"

so am going to attempt to make it
if it works or even fits will be a miracle!

but here go's for shits and giggles!
dont rely on the measurments if you use this idea as it was flexible ish Wink

so i started cutting and welding

checked the basic 6ft x 46" frame would fit

then started adding the fold points

End of play today i have got a welded 6ft bed frame that needs hinges and cutting also requires altering to fit wheel arch profile when folded

on thing i have suddenly realised a SWB Vivaro with a 6ft bed dont leave a lot of room!

yes it will give more room Wink

Hmmm well that failed!
time to look at something else

the majority of the steal is folded into the wheel arch, may of worked if it was narrower

currently sat looking at Futons

RE: Vivaro camper Van conversion - C2K - 14-04-2017

RE: Vivaro camper Van conversion - cully - 17-04-2017

RE: Vivaro camper Van conversion - cully - 03-05-2017

thought id best make an effort in some curtains as we are going away in the van next weekend

side windows have some fancy stretchy curtains and the front cab has a temporary pole between the grab rails with a large curtain for privacy
works quite well Smile

RE: Vivaro camper Van conversion - cully - 12-05-2017

just back from a week driving around Wales, found the Van to be well under-powered on the welsh hills so got it on some diagnostic machine to find i have a dead MAF sensor,
£100 Later the van is a different animal drives so much better

symptoms were lack of power bellow 2500rpm always changing gear to chase the rev's where the power was
No fault codes logged only visible on live data on a drive MAF values not changing

anyway great week away lovely weather
we cheated a little as we booked a Sun holiday short break so stayed in a static home Wink

off away again this weekend East Sussex should be fun Big Grin

RE: Vivaro camper Van conversion - cully - 23-05-2017

have been looking for something to turn my faded grey/black plastics back to black
after much searching I think i have found something better than peanut butter and cheaper than any car stuff in a tin

just mask up and paint on, took around 3 coats to go from grey to black the finish is excellent no brush lines or shading not sticky nor does it rub off
at 39p a bottle cheap as chips too

what do you think?

and what do you think it is Im using

RE: Vivaro camper Van conversion - DeeTurbo - 23-05-2017

Wow, 39p and it looks great.

I haven't clue what it could be.

How did you hear about it?

RE: Vivaro camper Van conversion - Paul Baldwin - 23-05-2017

Well, my guess with the chips reference and cost it would be vinegar.

RE: Vivaro camper Van conversion - cully - 23-05-2017

found it by trawlin the net like most things

emptyed the bottle into a pot then used a paintbrush to apply it Wink

RE: Vivaro camper Van conversion - Mighty306 - 23-05-2017

Genius! Will be good to know how it lasts as lots of black plastic on my phase 2's is looking fairly shabby.
