Going to make a plastic encloser to go around it so it looks neater

Comming along very nicely mate

Personally think you should keep it flat arch.

Yeah I've been looking at it and keep thinking it would be better as a flat arch. Saves me cutting the arch up

Yep save time, money and weight Big Grin

Can also get some '14' rallye steelies and they wouldn't look stupidly small.

Yeah I'll put the arches up for sell Smile really undecided on what wheels to run, really like the 205 GTi wheels or cyclones

What are the plans for the heater matrix? That's going to make it really hot in the cabin in the summer.

If you bypass it, remember to restrict the flow so as to not encounter heat issues within the cooling system Smile

RE: 106 Track Toy - Nathan1305 - 03-01-2015

Probably going to bypass it with a hose Srowell found for me. And how can I restrict it?

RE: 106 Track Toy - procta - 04-01-2015

smaller battery, that will save weight.

what you want to do pal, is rob an MGF for the battery cables, as the engine is in the rear on those and the battery is in the front.

yeah, see if you can get the negative one too,  not sure where that went, as it was a long time ago when I broke my donor car.

It says it's the positive cable and negative cable from battery to starter motor. So I guess that all I need to move it to the boot

My mistake it is just positive so what negative cable will I need?

RE: 106 Track Toy - procta - 04-01-2015

you will need the positive, I think you will need a Univeral Negative lead, that will go on the earth side of things in the boot area, But you will need to earth what ever is on the negative lead in the engine bay.

Did some tidying up of the wires today Smile all taped up and clipped down

RE: 106 Track Toy - 7057sam - 06-01-2015

Did do any/more stripping of the loom?

The luppy idling sorted now?

RE: 106 Track Toy - Stef205 - 06-01-2015

must be one of the first 106's ive seen with out seat mounts cracked! talking of cracked when you drop your axle asses the beam mounting areas as the body likes to crack and fail, ive seen it on so many just thought id pass it on.

RE: 106 Track Toy - andyyy - 07-01-2015

Dunno if it's already been said or done but take the spare wheel and the bracket for it off, take the inner arches out and blast out all the mud behind them to save a few grams

205 gti wheels are fairly heavy BTW might want to consider lighter wheels if your going to the effort of stripping the car

Looking good and moving quickly at this speed when do you plan to have it finished?

Stripped as much as I could out, and it's kind of sorted haha I changed the plugs and it's helped, once it's been running 2-3 minutes it's fine but still revs lumpy on start up

Cool thanks mate I'll check that out once I take the beam off

The spare has already gone and that's a good Idea about the inner arches. What wheels would you recommend? And I should have it completely ready for FCS where it will get its maiden voyage Smile

RE: 106 Track Toy - 7057sam - 07-01-2015

Be great to see it getting hammered at combe,it's nice curcuit where car's with shorter ratios really thrive so you may get a few passes/keep with a lot of cars.

RE: 106 Track Toy - 1616six - 07-01-2015

Looking good mate.

Did the grill arrive?

Yeah I've been watching a lot of videos on YouTube and the 106 seems to love it round Combe

id be starting on sorting out the handling now or engine tweaking.

Getting a recon GTi beam from Stefan205 soon and some 50mm lowering springs for the front. That should give it some nice handling, then the brakes will be updated to 266mm. Unsure what I can do engine wise. It has a induction kit and a full pugs port system already

RE: 106 Track Toy - Stef205 - 07-01-2015

id look out for some c5 steel/alloy wheels they are one of the lightest wheel combos out there at little cost.

Would kill for a set of TD Pro Race 1.2's

RE: 106 Track Toy - Stef205 - 08-01-2015

the c5 wheels are lighter, if you go for 1.2's buy direct fit ones with the correct offset. Bloody spacers hate them with passion
