Re: Sam's '98 XSi - Pugly - spike2002 - 07-05-2012

Re: Sam's '98 XSi - Pugly - samass - 11-05-2012

so did a bit of work on the manifold today, just cleaning it up really. stripped all the gubbins off it a few days back, so this is what it looked like when my dremel's battery died
[Image: 2012-05-11172459.jpg]

then i attacked it with the wire brush on a drill, and thats cleaning it up nicely. think im gunna get/borrow an electric sander tho, chewing through dremel drums otherwise...

Looks sweet mate Smile

Re: Sam's '98 XSi - Pugly - Grant - 11-05-2012

You going for a polished metal manifold?
That would look awesome!

Re: Sam's '98 XSi - Pugly - samass - 11-05-2012

cheers guys. i dunno. hadn't originally, was gunna be smooth satin black... but i am a massive fan of shiny, i even spent about 6 hours polishing my safety knife for work....
i might have to decide when i get it all clean and smooth ready for priming... might be tempted to polish it, but i also really want it on the car...............

also, gun gummed up my back box to stop that blowing, but theres still a bit of a leak from the cat to mid section. ill sort that when i chop out boxes and stuff Big Grin

Re: Sam's '98 XSi - Pugly - samass - 16-05-2012

been productive today, a lovely box from poodle turned up today while i was putting the door handles back on the 'rocco, and it contained top engine and g/box mount and some nice new springs Big Grin .
so got on with it, and had the new mounts on in about two hours. pretty good going, didnt encounter any problems, and i tidied up some rusty bits in the bay too. couple of pics..

and then i had the genius idea of using some bumper care on the blacks under the bonnet...

main noticeable difference is on the mani, and that'll be OUTTA THERRRE soon ninja

Sam's '98 XSi - Pugly - Matt - 16-05-2012

Looking good mate. Still to much of a pussy to do my own mounts haha

Re: Sam's '98 XSi - Pugly - samass - 16-05-2012

wimp. ill put a guide up later, literally, piss easy. worst bit was the top one, and even that was easy once i'd busted out the hammer and chisel.

Sam's '98 XSi - Pugly - Matt - 16-05-2012

I can just see myself getting them off but not being able to put new ones on haha

Re: Sam's '98 XSi - Pugly - Grant - 16-05-2012

Re: Sam's '98 XSi - Pugly - samass - 16-05-2012

Matt Wrote:I can just see myself getting them off but not being able to put new ones on haha

haha getting them on is easier than getting them off! have to wiggle the engine on the jack a bit, but easy! i bet id be able to do it ace!

[dont take me up on that, i really cba! lol ]

Grant Wrote:Looking good mate.

cheers man Smile

not done any more on it, was gunna but then couldn't be bothered after doing the engine mounts. might do some work on it tomorrow, but i really should study too....................

Re: Sam's '98 XSi - Pugly - samass - 17-05-2012

did this....

the two outer branches have been sanded down with 120 grit paper, its shit tho, need proper paper!
stil undecided whether or not im gunna make it shiny as balls, or just smooth it a bit, then make it smoooooth satin black....

and yes, im whoring the fish eye a bit, but i dont care.
