I'm so happy to NOT see JOEY ending up at the scrap heap.. Thanks for keeping it alive Smile

Cheers man appreciate that! If someone scrapped a 205 in this good condition they would be maaaad!

But yeah today i realised how painful the dual carriage way is in this! Really low ratio box lol

Then i finally got fed up with the temp gauge flying across the dash every roundabout so i cut a hole O:

Also got a new door pin for the drivers side so the light comes on when i get in. Little things ay Smile

RE: Joey the boosted 205 racer! - Frosty - 23-09-2013

What gearbox has it got?

RE: Joey the boosted 205 racer! - Piggy - 23-09-2013

what temp is that reading?!

and that is a short ratio....that in 5th at 50?!

Looking ACE by the way Heart

RE: Joey the boosted 205 racer! - Pugmarshall - 23-09-2013

I sacked that box off, I used to keep checking it was in 5th all the time!

Get a 1.9 box on!

RE: Joey the boosted 205 racer! - strictly_perv - 23-09-2013

I always planned to fit it there Tom but never got round to it.
It's a 1.9 306 box but the small wheels and tyres brings the ratio down, a lot.

RE: Joey the boosted 205 racer! - Tom - 23-09-2013

2750rpm = 55mph!! O:

RE: Joey the boosted 205 racer! - Tom - 23-09-2013

The temp probe is just in the bay atm, need to mount it in the inlet where it gets a good passing of air so i know my charge temps but i figured without a cooler i dont even want to know lmao

RE: Joey the boosted 205 racer! - Toms306 - 23-09-2013

The temp display isn't straight! Undecided

But otherwise, looks really good....and I don't normally like 205s lol!

RE: Joey the boosted 205 racer! - Midnightclub - 24-09-2013

IMO.. get a HDi box on there.. the longer ratios with the lack of weight will make it fly!

Yeah, but you won't see that on the speedo... Hmm

Depends which speedo drive he is using...

Id say if its really a short a hdi box would probs suit it more as it will return it to a more normal ratio..that said...I run a '6 box so cant really talk, short ratio FTW

RE: Joey the boosted 205 racer! - Tom - 24-09-2013

I was thinking today about my speedo being out :/

RE: Joey the boosted 205 racer! - mr_fish - 24-09-2013

sat nav to get a rough guide? My 206 was 10mph out using the xantia gearbox speedo drive....went and helped myself down darrens scrap pile for an XUD one.

RE: Joey the boosted 205 racer! - strictly_perv - 24-09-2013

Its a 306 one and on the sat nav it actually reads slower.

Darrens scrap pile is rather epic, i remember seeing it years ago before he had a tidy up, back when i first met him, there was a turbo "pile" and another wiring pile! Never seen so many spares!

I think that each time i've been down there I've gone over and routed through the mixture of tired/blown/robbed/destroyed engines and gearboxes. One day I'm going to be disappointed when they're all sent to the scrapyard in the sky Sad

RE: Joey the boosted 205 racer! - Tom - 25-09-2013

Getting on a 4 poster on friday to get an exhaust on this bugger! Oh yay Smile

RE: Joey the boosted 205 racer! - Piggy - 25-09-2013

My 306 was epic with no exhaust!

RE: Joey the boosted 205 racer! - Tom - 25-09-2013

It is epic but the noise is boring me a bit! Cant hear the turbo Wink

RE: Joey the boosted 205 racer! - padge - 25-09-2013

im still running stock mid/back box on mine! its silent lol.

RE: Joey the boosted 205 racer! - Poodle - 25-09-2013

Weld yourself something up out of scrap blagged from the local garage, it's what i'm doing. 2.5" straight through with twin-exit box for cost of half a can of gas and a few metres of reel? Yes please. Big Grin

Oh yeah, fair point.

Oh that's normal lol, indicated 80 in the hdi is actually just over 70. lmao

RE: Joey the boosted 205 racer! - Tom - 25-09-2013

If i had a mig i would weld one myself but i dont so have the luxury of paying someone else to, but i am fotunate to have alot of friends in the trade so it should only cost me a cake i steal from work and a few quid Wink

RE: Joey the boosted 205 racer! - Tom - 28-09-2013

RE: Joey the boosted 205 racer! - strictly_perv - 28-09-2013

God I miss this car.

I really think a cheeky up/side swept exhaust would look good Tom

RE: Joey the boosted 205 racer! - vtec power gt - 28-09-2013

So good to see this back on the road and still on this forum.

RE: Joey the boosted 205 racer! - Chris_90 - 29-09-2013

RE: Joey the boosted 205 racer! - Tom - 12-10-2013

Still alive, had a wash the other day, my drive is pretty cramped so i park real close to the house and it doesnt leave much room for pics!
