Is this page 5? YASS! lmao

Right, after a long wait, these fellas turned up at my house today

And after realising my drive has quite a steep incline, we huffed and puffed and eventually got it to the top of the drive where it now resides next to its dead amputated cousin. Let the fun begin!

And a teaser of the wheels..

That's Xav. He has cancer tbh. No lie.

Then this happened, manky black slam panel stripped back with the ol' wire wheel drill bit, followed by a bit of primer and paint. Looks much better, ready for clear tomorrow.

It's all red now, got too dark to take a picture so will get some tomorrow.

Speaking of tomorrow, MASSIVE day ahead. First I need to give it a proper clean, stocked up on Farecla Detox shampoo, tar remover, clay bars, detailing spray and polishes. Once I can see what i've got to work with I can draw up a plan of attack.

Already started the mods though. Dewipered rear, smoked indicators and aero blades. Pretty basic mind. Smile

Re: Stanced XUD estate - Eeyore - 27-02-2012

should be a good project! cant wait to see these wheels sitting in the arches!

Re: Stanced XUD estate - Curt - 27-02-2012

Awesome, will be keep and eye on the progress. Especially now you have a car Tongue

Re: Stanced XUD estate - cwspellowe - 28-02-2012

More fun was had by many today, including lots of errands buying things and a LOT of paint prep.

First up was to get the car cleaned. Didn't have much time spare to do a thorough job but tbh, the paint was MANKY. It looked like it had never seen wax before in its life, probably not even polish! Imagine how it must have felt when I came at it today all guns a-blazing?

Here's the list of tools for the job. Farecla do a G3 four-stage paint renovation but I only use a couple of their products, and chop and change others for slightly better results.

1. G3 Detox (stage 1) concentrated shampoo
2. Meguiar's pro clay bar lubricated with Zymol natural shampoo
3. G3 polishing compound
4. G10 finishing compound

Once they're done, the regular routine will be:

1. Zymol natural shampoo
2. Autoglym Super Resin Polish
3. Finish Kare FK1000p paste sealant

Obviously a lot of other products will be used, like tyre black, wheel cleaner, metal polish etc but i'm concentrating on the paint for now.

Some pictures of the more ugly tar spots

Coming off

And just after a clay, no polish or wax/sealant used

It's coming up not too shabby, but it's a long way from the required standard. Lots of parts need painting too, front bumper, rear bumper, wing mirror caps, door handles, phase 3 rub strips... good job I stocked up on plenty of paint!

Speaking of paint, I made a start on the engine bay too. Nothing fancy, just a wire brush and a tin of hammerite smooth white. Spot the difference eh?

I then got tired of cleaning so gave the restoration a break, and went to see what the wheels would look like. Obviously the stance is a bit, erm, off still. Hard to adjust coilovers when there's no engine fitted so rather than guess, i'm waiting for the oil burner to arrive first.

Not as much poke as I thought actually, and that's on a drum beam with ET -5. IIRC the disc beams sit slightly narrower? Not much work needed to fit them in at all though, in fact the fronts hardly look wide at all!

Oh more randoms too, aero blades and Xsara jets on

Head unit and steering wheel fitted

Need to neaten this little bugger up a bit but decided iPod connection will be in the rear ashtray in the centre console

And YAY! I haz boost gauge! Got a bit of a chub from making this. Felt like "one of the lads" lmao

And on the Tuesday night, Chris rested.
