RE: Carl and Jonny's XUD Hillclimber - martyn92 - 28-08-2013 whoops haha, Where you have welded that piece on have you treated it under there? RE: Carl and Jonny's XUD Hillclimber - Jonny81191 - 28-08-2013 Nope, just cleaned it all up. RE: Carl and Jonny's XUD Hillclimber - Piggy - 28-08-2013 seems a bit of effort for no real gain. the cage will stiffen all things and you could of just welded in three spots for jacking. but not a crazy idea.. just seems a lot of effort just to be able to jack anywhere along there! RE: Carl and Jonny's XUD Hillclimber - Jonny81191 - 28-08-2013 Not really much effort, bearing in mind a plate would have been needed most of the way along to hold the sill together anyway. RE: Carl and Jonny's XUD Hillclimber - Piggy - 28-08-2013 oh really, didnt realise it were that bad. .if you could get a piece of extra cage to a couple points on that bar, that would really make it a serious advantage RE: Carl and Jonny's XUD Hillclimber - Jonny81191 - 28-08-2013 How do you mean? The bar is already welded to the mounting points through the floor.. RE: Carl and Jonny's XUD Hillclimber - Piggy - 28-08-2013 oh well thats spot on. its always a weak spot really on a cage...the cars chassis!...the section of floor/sill between the floor mounting points is often flexi...but you sorted it.... the more I think on it...the more I think thatz a clever thing RE: Carl and Jonny's XUD Hillclimber - Jonny81191 - 29-08-2013 Panic over, just went and checked the welder and it obviously has a cut out for if it overheats. So moar welding tonight! RE: Carl and Jonny's XUD Hillclimber - Poodle - 29-08-2013 Winnar! Will you be adjusting the top mount cut-outs while.you're at it? Re: Carl and Jonny's XUD Hillclimber - THE_Liam - 29-08-2013 There is some serious f*cking winning going on here ![]() RE: Carl and Jonny's XUD Hillclimber - Tom - 30-08-2013 I like. That's gonna look awesome under there with everything crisp and fresh RE: Carl and Jonny's XUD Hillclimber - Dum-Dum - 21-09-2013 Its going to be like building a brand new 306. RE: Carl and Jonny's XUD Hillclimber - Piotrek Wielos - 22-09-2013 Good job. will lucks great when finish RE: Carl and Jonny's XUD Hillclimber - 306racecar - 26-09-2013 So here's the latest.. It's so much better to paint than grind rust! ![]() We've now got the whole inside painted, just a few bits to touch up here and there. On the floor, we used deck paint that you'd normally find on fishing trawlers, it's got sand in it to make it all grippy, and covers pretty much anything! Also test fitted the roof scoop, it's off a Subaru Impreza Next thing to do is move it to Carl's place again, then start turning it into a car!! RE: Carl and Jonny's XUD Hillclimber - devils_fuel - 26-09-2013 That is FANTASTIC guys, a credit to you both ! This will be awesome when finished !!!! RE: Carl and Jonny's XUD Hillclimber - procta - 26-09-2013 are you building a custom car loom? as the mg metro cup lads when they build new racers, they build their own car looms, just a few basic odds and sods that was it. RE: Carl and Jonny's XUD Hillclimber - Jonny81191 - 26-09-2013 (26-09-2013, 08:56 PM)procta Wrote: are you building a custom car loom? as the mg metro cup lads when they build new racers, they build their own car looms, just a few basic odds and sods that was it. Probably just gonna completely strip the old loom to the bare essentials for ease of making it, everything already to length with the correct plugs etc.. RE: Carl and Jonny's XUD Hillclimber - Piggy - 26-09-2013 yeah defo easiest thing. making custom looms is just full of migranes! looking good guys...surprised you used that trawler paint...very heavy! |
