I'm still not sure on heat wrap :/ I don't like the idea of hot spots :/

Re: matts xsi euro project - Foxy-jim - 12-02-2012

Matt man up! Just heat wrap it!

matts xsi euro project - Matt - 12-02-2012

Man up doesn't apply here. I don't want to set fire to my car lol

Re: matts xsi euro project - Foxy-jim - 12-02-2012

You won't!

matts xsi euro project - Matt - 12-02-2012

Can I have that in writing with a signature? If it catches fire you replace everything Wink

After reading about it I'm proper worried about doing it Sad too the point im thinking of just getting the shields

Re: matts xsi euro project - Dum-Dum - 12-02-2012

Heatwrap cant be inherently flamable otherwise loads of people would have issues

matts xsi euro project - Matt - 12-02-2012

That is a fair point dum, hmmmm I might just wrap it. Suggestions on wrap?

Re: matts xsi euro project - Niall - 12-02-2012

Matt providing you do it properly and protect it from soaking up oil, it will be fine! MTFU!

Oh btw I've packed up that fan controller. Will stick it in the post tomorrow

matts xsi euro project - Matt - 12-02-2012

How can you prevent it though? Surley it will...... Being in a engine bay?

Oh and awesome Smile

Re: matts xsi euro project - Niall - 12-02-2012

You can buy a spray from rallynuts made by DEI. Most people say just spray painting it works but for a couple of quid, might as well just use the proper stuff. Also stops it soaking up moisture and going mouldy.

matts xsi euro project - Matt - 12-02-2012

What is it then? And what's the price?

When wrapping a exhaust you wet the wrap yeah? So when it dries it's a better seal? How many times around a section of pipe do you wrap, and is there a point where you can use to much wrap?

Re: matts xsi euro project - Niall - 12-02-2012

Do some bloody work your self and google it. Look on rallynuts for the spray!

You wet it yes then overlap it. If your using 2" wrap, overlap it by 0.5". You can't wrap too much but you will find that if you use much more than 2" you will have trouble getting around the bends in it.

Opinions?

Re: matts xsi euro project - Niall - 12-02-2012

That's the stuff. Not too sure on the wrap though. I bought DEI stuff. It's not cheap but with something like that, I would want to use proper stuff!

Re: matts xsi euro project - Dum-Dum - 12-02-2012

DEI Wrap and the DEI paint mate, Its what Ill be using. The paint protects the wrap from soaking up shit and getting loose, it kinda glues it together a little bit.

Its not cheap. Will probably cost me £60 to do the manifold and the de-cat but i dont think cheap wrap would be as good.

Youll probably need a 50ft x 1" roll for the manifold and a 15ft roll (1" or 2") for the de-cat.

This is the stuff I have used. Cant fault it!

matts xsi euro project - Matt - 12-02-2012

Dei wrap I posted is 50mm x 15meters. I'll prob get that and the silicone shizz.

Think they will do a group buy?? Wink

Re: matts xsi euro project - Dum-Dum - 12-02-2012

That would be epic

Re: matts xsi euro project - Foxy-jim - 12-02-2012

Damn group buys! Just bought some more to do the rest of my exhaust haha.

matts xsi euro project - Matt - 12-02-2012

Hahah only thinking group but as could then get my own cheaper haha

Re: matts xsi euro project - Niall - 12-02-2012

Matt the graystons stuff is pretty good. My old company used to be above there warehouse in chessington and one of the guys there used to build import imprezas to rallye and he used to swear by the stuff for quality for money!

Re: matts xsi euro project - 4WayDiablo - 12-02-2012

Matt you need a pic of the epic purple sticker on the windscreen!

matts xsi euro project - Matt - 12-02-2012

Haha yes I do! But it may not be staying

Re: matts xsi euro project - 4WayDiablo - 12-02-2012

Aww :-( why?

matts xsi euro project - Matt - 12-02-2012

Liked mine sunstrip an I want something similar but more subtle

Re: matts xsi euro project - 4WayDiablo - 12-02-2012

Your car doesnt do subtle.. not with that exhaust anyway

matts xsi euro project - Matt - 12-02-2012

Well that's changing too Tongue

Re: matts xsi euro project - 4WayDiablo - 12-02-2012

Fair enough :-) is it going bavk to a more standard way?

Re: matts xsi euro project - Foxy-jim - 13-02-2012
