According to this forum very few things are quicker than a 90hp diesel with a couple of mods.

I prefer straight up answers to riddles, if there's a good reason I should spend a fair chunk of my hard earned on these rods then please do enlighten me? Smile

fixed Smile

known for there poor quality if im completely honest normally have to buy 4 sets to build one good set. They normally come way unbalanced poor coatings just like their pistons. Saenz, Arrow or even Robinson engineering far superior products.

RE: Matts 106 GTi Turbo. - welshpug - 03-12-2015

poor design and poor manufacturing tolerances, as Stef said, go for the ones that proper reputable race/rally engine builders use.

you'll pay 550-600 for good rods.

also, std rods are good in n-a builds for over 200 bhp at sensible rpm.

RE: Matts 106 GTi Turbo. - Midnightclub - 04-12-2015

Wasn't that DP engineering build running over 400hp on stock internals with just a decomp plate?

EDIT: found it, maybe it's got something to do with it running on E85? http://www.dp-engineering.nl/projects/p-106-gti-turbo-gt2871r.html

RE: Matts 106 GTi Turbo. - welshpug - 04-12-2015

E85 will add a fair chunk to the gains especially with boost.

added - what a horrible shape to the power curve! that would be barely any quicker till 4.5k then a world of wheelspin and gearbox destructioN!"

RE: Matts 106 GTi Turbo. - Midnightclub - 04-12-2015

Granted it's not a great curve, but it's a track car and it's hardly going to spend much time under 4k on track.

RE: Matts 106 GTi Turbo. - silverzx - 04-12-2015

Is this much quicker then a stage 2 HDi?

Has anyone ever told you that your really ugly and have a fleet of shit cars coupled with an incredibly shite trolling / banter ability? If you answer that question with a No then i will be greatly surprised because its pretty accurate.

If by that you mean rallye then yes!

Just stood back in the workshop one day and realised that 1 project at a time is enough. more than doubled my money on the 106 so just made it happen

RE: Matts 106 GTi Turbo. - 7057sam - 09-01-2016

Shame you sold it but you made some good money out of it and with meg needing to be fixed it's probably the right decision

Ha yes I do mean your rallye.

Rallye coming to shows this year then?

RE: Matts 106 GTi Turbo. - procta - 09-01-2016

fare play on doubling your money, what's the cost of building one of these? as my mate tried to do this to a saxo vts 12 years ago, done his money mind, 1500 quid on a kit that didn't fit!

RE: Matts 106 GTi Turbo. - zx_volcane - 10-01-2016
