Re: Xsi horrendously down on power. - Ed Doe - 23-04-2012

^^ and back-pressure, and therefore pick-up low in the rpms, and therefore power delivery and therefore acceleration. Sorry what's the title of this thread? I'm getting dizzy from all the running in circles....

Re: Xsi horrendously down on power. - Ruan - 23-04-2012

Except it'll help the top end...

Which is what it's all about, no? And the petrols have straight through midsections so I wouldn't be so concerned that they're providing all the backpressure...

Re: Xsi horrendously down on power. - Ed Doe - 23-04-2012

^^ We discussed this briefly though the other day Ruan; why the '6 box is so good; cause it keeps the engine right in the power band at the top of the rev-range. From memory the XSi has a very long 2nd (I think you can get to above 70 in 2nd Matt???) meaning there will be a bit of a 'gap' in the box between 1st and 2nd... Surely lessening the low-end/mid-range torque with that gearbox will have a detrimental effect on acceleration? This was my point anyway, but feel free to correct me if I'm going awfully wrong!

Also, AFAIR Matt's rear box is also straight through with minimal silencing....

Re: Xsi horrendously down on power. - Curt - 23-04-2012

They top out at like 65, Matt tested it a while ago. That's about the same as a '6, is it not...?

Re: Xsi horrendously down on power. - samass - 23-04-2012

yep, i tested this on the way home from uni, bout 65

Aah crap I'm thinking about your box on your vagaygay! *maximum facepalm*
Doesn't that top out at something silly like 75?

Anyways Matt forget everything I've whittered on about. But you still need to give the car an effing good service!!

Re: Xsi horrendously down on power. - Curt - 23-04-2012

Fail! Yes it does, but I has turbo and torquez

Don't worry Ed, nobody listens to you anyway!

(In seriousness, I agree on the service)

Xsi horrendously down on power. - Matt - 23-04-2012

Right well it's getting a service this week, and a change in exhaust, then hopefully next month the '6 manifold and Decat Smile should see a little bit of difference Smile

Re: Xsi horrendously down on power. - Curt - 23-04-2012

We'll give the air filter a good blow out when you're round too, might help a bit...

Xsi horrendously down on power. - Matt - 23-04-2012

Sweet, need to start getting wd40 or my studs for the exhaust manifold, have a feeling it's going to seized like fook!

Re: Xsi horrendously down on power. - Curt - 23-04-2012

Most likely!

(In other news, we now have a visible Bing [Bot] viewing this thread...)

Bing bot......... Wonder he/she has any input on this lol

Re: Xsi horrendously down on power. - Niall - 23-04-2012

Matt exhaust bolts are supprisingly easy once cracked off. Just make sure you use a 6 point socket when you first crack them...less chance of rou ding them.
