Re: 106 NAD Progress not Project - pugtk - 15-04-2012

why did you ever sell the hdi 306, remember seeing that on pug306 a few years ago, seemed like a bit of work went into it???

giving problems??

Re: 106 NAD Progress not Project - Dan! - 15-04-2012

I think it was something to do with it breaking down at least once every time he drove it lol

Re: 106 NAD Progress not Project - Jonny81191 - 15-04-2012

There's nowt wrong with it, it's as reliable as you'd ever want! (just needs a clutch)

Re: 106 NAD Progress not Project - Jonny81191 - 15-04-2012

Doh

I did think that after I posted lol

BTW, YHPM.

Re: 106 NAD Progress not Project - THE_Liam - 16-04-2012

That's pretty common on 106's, my GTI was pretty solid but it did need 2 little patches, one was about 2" by 1/2", and one was about an inch square...

Re: 106 NAD Progress not Project - Ed Doe - 16-04-2012

I dread to think what condition my nad is in....

Stil.... more lightness I spose!!

You say that but even 1mm steel plate feels thicker than the standard bodywork and as theres gotta be an overlap its gotta be more weight.

Re: 106 NAD Progress not Project - Dan! - 16-04-2012

I think he means less weight if he doesnt fix it Tongue

Re: 106 NAD Progress not Project - Dum-Dum - 16-04-2012

Yeah now i re-read that I think you might be right.

I am working on lightness. unnecessary brackets, spare wheel and that sort of stuff have been removed. Got some perspex in the garage so I might do the rear windows.

Yeah but my NAD is lighter than pretty much any other car on the road anyway far less in "race spec".

The plate under the bonnet says:

1- 720kg
2- 690kg

So i assume its around the 700kg mark as standard.

Really would like to get it down to 600-650kg for lolz.

Re: 106 NAD Progress not Project - Dum-Dum - 16-04-2012

So yesterday I de-wipered the boot as it didnt work anyway, de-badged the rear end and removed all the side strips, they came off surprisingly even for the fudge wheel but the difference in paint colour behind is massively different.

Also more on the rust repairs. These have now had a quick blast of black to protect them till i can get the welder on them.

Oh and it turns out 306 rear dampers fit so i may bolt on my ta technics rear shocks.

Re: 106 NAD Progress not Project - Niall - 16-04-2012

Classy repair. Big Grin

Re: 106 NAD Progress not Project - lewisdmz - 16-04-2012

dewiper lol

You literally cannot help yourself can you Tongue

Re: 106 NAD Progress not Project - Fozzy - 16-04-2012

The scary thing i think that would pass an MOT. Apparently if the rust cannot be seen as in a plate to hide it they cannot remove the plate to see what is beneath it. Permanent fix if you ask me.

Yeah the plates are getting welded mate. I have borrowed a welder already so will do it at the weekend. cycling to work for a couple of days this week anyway so shouldnt be too much of an issue.

Re: 106 NAD Progress not Project - Niall - 16-04-2012

Did you make it home with no coolant? Haha

Re: 106 NAD Progress not Project - Dum-Dum - 16-04-2012

Of course. Nads are indestructable

Re: 106 NAD Progress not Project - samass - 16-04-2012

Re: 106 NAD Progress not Project - Dum-Dum - 20-04-2012

Got 4 306 steels ordered and paid for off ebay so just got to wait for them to turn up now.

Total was £76.95 posted (from different sellers) and I just gotta paint them and find tyres.

Anyone got any decent 195/45R15 part worns?

Re: 106 NAD Progress not Project - WiNgNuTz - 20-04-2012

Shame, I've got a set of harriers in the garden, with about 5-6mm on all the tyres that you could have had for £40! lol probably heavier than the steels though I suppose.

Oh and lol at your rust repairs, quality stuff! :handgestures-thumbupright:

Re: 106 NAD Progress not Project - silverzx - 20-04-2012

I can see you getting carried away with this and planning to "bodge a 1.9 in" which will lead to a lot more.. Tongue

Re: 106 NAD Progress not Project - Dan! - 20-04-2012

£80 for 4 steels with no tyres?!

Re: 106 NAD Progress not Project - mark_airey - 20-04-2012

Dan! Wrote:£80 for 4 steels with no tyres?!

This thought did pass through my head also........even £10 each would have been expensive IMO!

Re: 106 NAD Progress not Project - Dan! - 20-04-2012

If you factor in £20 per tyre your thenn looking at over £150, could get cyclones with good tyres for that lol Not that anybody actually wants cyclones, do they? Tongue

Re: 106 NAD Progress not Project - Kezzieboy - 20-04-2012

Yeah, that's pretty damn steep, mine were delivered without tyres for £50iirc, I assume they're 15s?
