I was up the arse of a Seat leon, 13 plater, last week. You should have seen his face! As he was one of these boy racer lads, Sometimes i have to dish out a bit of punishment and my car does receive a lot of shit on the road. RE: 205 dt sleeper...very unhappy boostings! - Paul_13 - 03-02-2014 Looking at very imminent complete head gasket failure. There's enough water in the bores it seems to prevent the engine starting sometimes. Very down on power and drinks coolant more than I drink booze Luckily I've made a start rebuilding the replacement engine. The bits are with Miles as we speak RE: 205 dt sleeper...very unhappy boostings! - Piggy - 03-02-2014 Oh dear...sounds familiar! Be ace with new engine though...td04, 11mm with hdi rods and those studs should see you close to 190bhp surely?! Do you not get issues with the turbo eating oil from the breather system? RE: 205 dt sleeper...very unhappy boostings! - Paul_13 - 03-02-2014 I've got the breather venting to atmosphere at the moment. It's not plumbed into the intake system I'm looking forward to getting it working properly RE: 205 dt sleeper...very unhappy boostings! - Tom - 03-02-2014 Thats a bit of a shitter. Keep at it mate, you'll win eventually. RE: 205 dt sleeper...very unhappy boostings! - Paul_13 - 12-04-2014 Right update time... Thanks again to Trent for the clocks/loom/dash surround! I fitted these and every dial worked from the off so was happy with that, had to replace a shit load of bulbs but thats a given with 205 clocks. I was most chuffed about the rev counter working straight away, I know these can be a lady garden to get working. All in all, it was pretty straight forward, i've taken the dashboard out in 205's enough times and had the whole thing back together and working in about 3 hours. The stdt loom was like for like plug wise against the old NAD loom. ![]() The "oh shit my engine's already f*cked light" ![]() I didn't have the coin tray or the other triangle trim so I decided to copy a mates idea and modify the cowling to accept a base model triangle trim. ![]() I got it through a MOT earlier and went to costco to stock up on veg ![]() Also centralised the rack and got the tracking sorted, should handle a bit better now. Next on the list is: Fit gti valance to be able to lower the rad further Fit a slightly larger intercooler Build up the engine with the td04 Get the exhaust built up Sort out some uprated suspension RE: 205 dt sleeper, clinging on for dear life - pugmanxud - 12-04-2014 I've got a 205dturbo conversion too hahaha. RE: 205 dt sleeper, clinging on for dear life - Tom - 13-04-2014 Same clocks as me, wooooo! RE: 205 dt sleeper, clinging on for dear life - Paul_13 - 13-04-2014 I took apart the td04 ages ago and never really looked at it. I've read and heardoff several people that you need to remove the locating pin/dowel, but problem is I can't see it. Am I going mad(der than usual?) ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() RE: 205 dt sleeper, clinging on for dear life - Ricky - 13-04-2014 It's on the cold side, take off the compressor housing and you will find it. RE: 205 dt sleeper, clinging on for dear life - Paul_13 - 13-04-2014 There's no need to is there? I can get the angle I want by removing the hot side RE: 205 dt sleeper, clinging on for dear life - Danny2009 - 13-04-2014 Not really you need to move the cold side as if not the oil feed and drain won't be pointing straight down RE: 205 dt sleeper, clinging on for dear life - silverzx - 15-04-2014 Glad the clocks are finally being put to good use! RE: 205 dt sleeper, clinging on for dear life - Paul_13 - 08-06-2014 ![]() RE: 205 dt sleeper, clinging on for dear life - Piggy - 08-06-2014 Ooooooo arps! RE: 205 dt sleeper, clinging on for dear life - Paul_13 - 08-06-2014 The heads on now, bottom end all sealed up. Just got to stay biltong everything back on RE: 205 dt sleeper, clinging on for dear life - Paul_13 - 24-07-2014 Boom, boom.boom, let me here you say.... ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() RE: 205 dt sleeper, dead as a dodo - bashbarnard - 24-07-2014 Oh shit RE: 205 dt sleeper, dead as a dodo - Niall - 24-07-2014 Like i said on whatsapp the other day mate, you did a great job of that! Only just realised its cracked the bell housing as well? never seen that happen before! RE: 205 dt sleeper, dead as a dodo - procta - 24-07-2014 shame about the engine going, get another one dropped in! and just for you paul http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cLOki2hdsdQ RE: 205 dt sleeper, dead as a dodo - Piggy - 24-07-2014 Holy moly thats a cracker! RE: 205 dt sleeper, dead as a dodo - silverzx - 24-07-2014 DAAMN!! I hate seeing these throwing rods / blowing up. ![]() RE: 205 dt sleeper, dead as a dodo - zx_volcane - 24-07-2014 Pants, always a worry seeing xud's with holes in the block ![]() You go a few months without seeing one, then a few crop up - a stark reminder to us all Time for a new bottom end then I guess? *edit This is your old engine right? and you have a shiny one to drop in yes? RE: 205 dt sleeper, dead as a dodo - strictly_perv - 25-07-2014 I'm impressed! I only managed a run away diesel which I never managed to properly diagnose. RE: 205 dt sleeper, dead as a dodo - bashbarnard - 25-07-2014 What were you doing at the time. Spirited driving or pootling RE: 205 dt sleeper, dead as a dodo - Paul_13 - 25-07-2014 It's the old engin, so standard rods thankfully. Other engine is ready to go in, just waiting on a few hoses. I was literally pulling into a side road maybe slightly more than medium throttle. A big whoosh and a bang! The thing that really pissed me off the most is a bit of the piston got lodged in the tyre and gave me a puncture on a brand new tyre!
