RE: Cully's Bianca 6 R150 YVM with added Quaife - cully - 23-04-2016

I Think i need to check the gear box mount
as i changed that, maybe it was softer letting the nose of the gearbox move ?

RE: Cully's Bianca 6 R150 YVM with added Quaife - C2K - 23-04-2016

Out of curiosity did it go on the rollers at mot time with the diff?

RE: Cully's Bianca 6 R150 YVM with added Quaife - Stef205 - 23-04-2016

quaiffe diff is worm dive so wont be effected unlike a plate diff

RE: Cully's Bianca 6 R150 YVM with added Quaife - cully - 24-04-2016

stripped the gearbox mount out....and........
id say that rubber has had it!
i could rock the nose of the box on its mount

RE: Cully's Bianca 6 R150 YVM with added Quaife - Frosty - 24-04-2016

Think all the gearbox mounts tend to have a bit of room for movement from what I've seen. I got a BM baker 1 if your interested?

RE: Cully's Bianca 6 R150 YVM with added Quaife - cully - 24-04-2016

Eurocarparts actually had the correct part in stock.....I'm in shock!

the hole on the new one is tight on the gearbox sleeve
it will be even tighter once i run a bead of weld down both sides too!

RE: Cully's Bianca 6 R150 YVM with added Quaife - cully - 25-04-2016

all i can say is wow!
what a difference that has made in a good way!

wont need to carry spare pants now!

RE: Cully's Bianca 6 R150 YVM with added Quaife - cully - 22-05-2016

doing some prep work before FCS, still trying to limit the torque steer Sad

found these bad boys

when i checked these before the MOT they looked OK
im wondering if the MOT shaker plate has destroyed them?  thoughts?

sho changed the arms for a spare set i have made up went to fit new ball joints
and BOLLOX!
bought them from ebay a while ago listed for the gti6 wrongly!

good job the old ones weren't buggered

RE: Cully's Bianca 6 R150 YVM with added Quaife - C2K - 22-05-2016

Unfortunate with the ball joint there. I don't buy car parts off ebay much for this very reason, hard to work out the right parts for your car with any degree of confidence without manufacturer part nos.

With regards to your Pbushes he would've surely picked them up on visual inspection post-shaker if they'd failed then? Very happy with my roller bearing wishbones tbh.

RE: Cully's Bianca 6 R150 YVM with added Quaife - welshpug - 22-05-2016

shaker plates do purely that, shake, they dont twist the bush off it's sleeve.

Cully's Bianca 6 R150 YVM with added Quaife - rocker8742 - 22-05-2016

Could be a combination of the lsd and buggered gearbox mount putting a twisting force on them?

naah, they're just worn out.

RE: Cully's Bianca 6 R150 YVM with added Quaife - cully - 22-05-2016

both were in fairly bad shape so the new arms have replacment p bushes and front bushes

the new stuff has made the car feel odd in a nasty way Confused

RE: Cully's Bianca 6 R150 YVM with added Quaife - cully - 25-05-2016

right the list of things to do befor FCS has just increased !

tomorrow i have booked the ramps at the garage
and the bloody Diff is coming out

it will be stripped and checked
if there is any issue a std diff will be refitted and the ATB returned to quaife for a service

the car is dangerous to drive like it is, id sooner have the std diff

ive tallked to many people including Quaife all have said it shouldnt pull to one side it should pull straight on power

RE: Cully's Bianca 6 R150 YVM with added Quaife - Piggy - 25-05-2016

Ah. Oh dear.
Yeah doesnt sound right.

RE: Cully's Bianca 6 R150 YVM with added Quaife - cully - 26-05-2016

8:30 the car went on the ramp this morning with a Quaife ATB diff
3pm the car drove of the ramp with a Peugeot Std open diff

as soon as i started to drain the new oil out i knew somthing was wrong
the oil was shimmering with metalic particles

so removed the diff and stripped it on the bench to find the problem
once the issue was found i was on the phone to Quaife for advice
they are real helpfull

anyway feck the writing pictures it what you want Tongue

preload conical washers

the bad bits.........

after sending the pictures to quaife
i phoned them back

basicly they said the diff had been run with a broken driveshaft or without oil which had caused that damage
send it back to us and we can refurb it and give you a warrantee

then we talked prices and i went white!

£55 for them to look at it
£133 for that one Long Sun Gear R.H
£9 each planet gears X10
£300 odd for the casing

he then said have a go at filing the teeth clean removing the burs

to which i said the gear had got blue with heat so the case hardening would be compromised to which he agread

so as of now i need to replace the damaged sun gear
i need to see if i can clean up the casing as it may be the gear hasn't cut into it rather left its own deposits on it

anyway its all up in the air ATM

so warning to anyone buying a second hand DIFF
strip it before you install it and check it Wink

RE: Cully's Bianca 6 R150 YVM with added Quaife - powerandtorque - 26-05-2016

That's a bugger - Quaife's are normally pretty hardy but clearly not indestructible Sad

RE: Cully's Bianca 6 R150 YVM with added Quaife - Toms306 - 26-05-2016

Never seen inside one before, that's pretty cool. Smile

Shame it's damaged though. Confused

RE: Cully's Bianca 6 R150 YVM with added Quaife - ozonehostile - 26-05-2016

Ouch, I'm definitely buying new then

RE: Cully's Bianca 6 R150 YVM with added Quaife - C2K - 26-05-2016

Gutted for you, but as per your post is one of the reasons I bought my tran-x new.

Take your time over the decision, look at all the diffs. Smile

RE: Cully's Bianca 6 R150 YVM with added Quaife - Dum-Dum - 26-05-2016

That is almost new diff price to repair it although I suppose it would then be almost a new diff.

RE: Cully's Bianca 6 R150 YVM with added Quaife - cully - 26-05-2016

I've been back to the diff and re-looked at the Sun gear and the housing

the sun gear is scrap!

but i can use the opposite gear edge to clean up the face on the casing
I am using it like a large valve grinding tool with some grinding paste,
the face of the casing is cleaning up real well,
it looks as if the sun gear is softer than the casing

I suspect heat at some-point has destroyed the case hardening on the sun gear wearing it away

RE: Cully's Bianca 6 R150 YVM with added Quaife - cully - 08-06-2016

I have now plans for the ATB diff
i have managed to get half the cost of the sun gear repair from the seller Smile
tommorrow im on a road trip........ drop the diff off pick up Kayley and home

rest for friday and prep car for a full trackday in south wales at Llandow circuit

RE: Cully's Bianca 6 R150 YVM with added Quaife - cully - 12-06-2016

Yesterday was a good day!
after French car show and the supposedly 2hr open pit track time yesterday I did a full day track day at Llandow circuit

so Friday night i packed the car ready to fuel and set off in the morning

6:30 Saturday set off to the fuel station filled the car and 2x20ltr jerry's with V-power, then set off up the motorway to south Wales
an hour later i had to stop at the gate keeper and pay £6.60 to enter Wales via the Bridge
arrived at Llandow circuit at 8:30.

went straight to the office to sign on
then back to the car to unpack and ready the car,
9:30 was the drivers brief, but by then id have changed to my track tyres and gained quite some interest in my car from other drivers.

drivers briefing explained how the day was going to work
4 groups of 10 cars for 15 mins each twice so track staff could asses driving standards
first two laps would be under yellow for sighting laps,
then before lunch we would go full open pit maximum 10 cars on track

I was in the 3rd group Novice! the first two groups supposedly had experience of the circuit

The track.....
Its short, its quick,

from track entrance its controlled by the staff via red green light as the on coming traffic is blind to you
basicly go on green.

into right, left, right, then long sweeping right to back straight, flat in 4th back to 3rd to straight line the chicane at the end,
power the long sweeping right onto the main straight, 4th, hard brake 3rd,2nd, hard Left.

the long sweeper onto the main straight you can proper 4 wheel drift, Oh i wish i had that Diff in it would be a good trial
by the end of the day the left right left at the end of the main straight i could proper drift RWD style

the track Eats the front left tyre ive managed to kill my set of yokos that have been hanging on forever

RE: Cully's Bianca 6 R150 YVM Llandow trackday - ozonehostile - 12-06-2016

Looked like a great day out for the money, never really even thought about going to Llandow!

RE: Cully's Bianca 6 R150 YVM Llandow trackday - C2K - 12-06-2016

Looks like you had fun. In my experience those airfield circuits murder tyres however you drive. Good to see it tripoding.

Did you just leave your Jerry cans in the pits and your wheels? I'd be worried about leaving my wheels unattended so was going to to buy a motorcycle chain lock.

i took a plastic sheet as the weather changes,
wheels, tyres, tools, fuel, everthing was under the sheet covered

most people had other helpers, i was on my own but soon got to know the people around me

RE: Cully's Bianca 6 R150 YVM Llandow trackday - Dum-Dum - 12-06-2016

Car is looking awesome, good work on finishing off those yokos and getting some good tripod action.

RE: Cully's Bianca 6 R150 YVM Llandow trackday - Piggy - 12-06-2016

How much was it for the day?
...but essentially the track time was after lunch?
Full open pit or sessions?
