Edit: bkr6ez are standard j4 plugs! :/

OK the plugs i have been recommended are: ILFR7H plugs from an evo? what plugs do you and Niall run if you don't mind me asking please dude?

RE: Matts 106 GTi Turbo. - Stef205 - 26-11-2015

who told you to use those?

we both uuse ngk 3330's bcr7es and as i said sandy uses these and the bcpr8es in his engines

RE: Matts 106 GTi Turbo. - Matt-Rallye - 26-11-2015

That was Matt from pug1off that recommended those plugs but they look too long for me :/

RE: Matts 106 GTi Turbo. - Stef205 - 26-11-2015

those plugs he recommend are the correct size and fittment BUT there iridium which im not a fan off. Personally id try find a non iridium plug.

RE: Matts 106 GTi Turbo. - fatlapit - 26-11-2015

I us bcr8es

RE: Matts 106 GTi Turbo. - Stef205 - 27-11-2015

As stated above they are to short!

RE: Matts 106 GTi Turbo. - Matt-Rallye - 27-11-2015

No it has transpired I am actually on a J4 head not a Jp4

RE: Matts 106 GTi Turbo. - Stef205 - 27-11-2015

in that case if your on a j4 head then try the 7's for now

RE: Matts 106 GTi Turbo. - Niall - 27-11-2015

Have to say I've just gone to 7s from 8s and driven the car to Gloucester. It's much happier On the 7s

RE: Matts 106 GTi Turbo. - Piggy - 28-11-2015

Your plans for the looks of the car going to change much?

RE: Matts 106 GTi Turbo. - Pugmarshall - 28-11-2015

Saw this on Facebook, glad to see at least one of the previous owners did a proper job of it. Any plans for a more suitable exhaust?

Im thinking of fitting a saxo scorpion pipe as mongoose only make twin pipes for the 106 Sad

RE: Matts 106 GTi Turbo. - RetroPug - 01-12-2015

Hmm. At £150 new it might be worth buying a Y-piece and a tailpipe of your choice for £20 and welding them on the end? Colossal PITA though.

I also dislike twin tail-pipes on small-displacement cars.

RE: Matts 106 GTi Turbo. - bashbarnard - 01-12-2015

Erghhh twin pipes are horrible. They should be reserved for V arrangement engines. Lol

RE: Matts 106 GTi Turbo. - Stef205 - 01-12-2015

exhaust- get one made to suit, id personally say a pugsport wont be upto the job, somewhere around 2 1/4-1/2 but its more about flow than diameter. Exhaust uk do some reasonable boxes thats what i used on mine.

RE: Matts 106 GTi Turbo. - RetroPug - 02-12-2015

With decent parts and workmanship with no mates rates you'd struggle to get a good exhaust for £150 surely?

RE: Matts 106 GTi Turbo. - Poodle - 02-12-2015

Tbh you'd struggle to get decent parts for that, let alone the rest. I feel like i've missed half the conversation with this exhaust, where has the £150 for an exhaust come from?

RE: Matts 106 GTi Turbo. - Stef205 - 02-12-2015

I built my monstrosity of a system for that I'm sure Matt knows someone who can weld it all together

RE: Matts 106 GTi Turbo. - Poodle - 03-12-2015

Ah I see, fair one.

RE: Matts 106 GTi Turbo. - silverzx - 03-12-2015

Is this a load quicker then a '6?

Lighter, more powerful (when it's running properly, obviously). Why wouldn't it be quicker?

Trolling level: amateur.

Currently, not quicker.
Soon: a f*ck load quicker and happy to prove it Smile

RE: Matts 106 GTi Turbo. - Stef205 - 03-12-2015

Do you plan to willy wave with rr figures? lmao

RE: Matts 106 GTi Turbo. - Matt-Rallye - 03-12-2015

With regards too the exhaust problem, a Pugsport is no good at all that much is definite.

Ideally needs a 2.25" downpipe back system but the downpipe I have is only 2" so perhaps a new downpipe is required if space allows.

After taking the sump off and inspecting the internals I have decided to fork out for some new wossner forged H beam rods as the current setup is using machined & shot peened standard rods which aren't quite too my liking.

Luckily it's in the hands of Russ Tyler now of Tyler Race Engines round the corner from my unit so the crank will be heat treated aswell as refitted using ACL race bearing shells and ARP studs.

Was more thinking of defeating a few on track to establish a status but it will need to be mapped & dyno'd at some point Tongue

RE: Matts 106 GTi Turbo. - Stef205 - 03-12-2015

Take a spare box with ya won't you Tongue

RE: Matts 106 GTi Turbo. - silverzx - 03-12-2015

Is this much quicker then a DTurbo (say a generic 9mm/TD04 variant)?
