RE: THE_Liam's 406 HDI - THE_Liam - 07-04-2015

So, bit of an update. I've done f*ck all to it, really just enjoying driving a car with no issues. Keep spotting V6 coupe alloys and trying to snipe them cheap but no luck yet.

What I have noticed is it's brilliant on juice. I filled it up when I bought it, now 3 weeks on after 380 miles of almost all town work and some caravan dragging it's down to a quarter of a tank!

Coupe wheels ftw Wink

Only issue you may find is that they take a funny size tyre that not many garages stock 215/55/r16

I went to 205/50 to match the lowered suspension on mine and stiffer sidewall with a slight tyre stretch

RE: THE_Liam's 406 HDI - THE_Liam - 17-04-2015

Thanks for the tip mate. I'll try Blackcircles or Camskill. Oh, and it did 515 miles on that tank!

I found it cheapest just to buy some more wheels with decent 215/55 tyres on them lol

To be fair on an old shitter like this I'd probably just get some cheap part-worns [emoji38]

no awning?

RE: THE_Liam's 406 HDI - Rippthrough - 18-04-2015

Pete's is on 205's now too Big Grin
Felt a bit floaty on 215's for my liking.

I don't know why you're struggling to find some heated leather seats though, I open the door and there they are.

Nah, only went for one night so couldn't be arsed putting it up. Just got there at 1 and started setting up. Opened s beer at 10 past. So much easier than a tent, and it has a fridge full of cold beer.

Didn't know you still had it. Can I have a go next time I see you? Mine drives lovely, bet it's brilliant with a 6-pot.

Yeah, the engine makes the coupe really, the handling isn't a patch on the 306 mind.
Yet.

RE: THE_Liam's 406 HDI - Dum-Dum - 19-04-2015

Caravan looks good, defo needs an awning though.

RE: THE_Liam's 406 HDI - THE_Liam - 30-04-2015

Bollocks, snapped a spring backing out of the drive! Thank f*ck that didn't happen at speed...

RE: THE_Liam's 406 HDI - Danny Wideboy - 01-05-2015

Broke my neck finding out what the problem was, but dang, lucky it was low speed dood.

RE: THE_Liam's 406 HDI - Poodle - 03-05-2015

That's a pretty little mess, thank fook it went on the driveway mate. Confused

RE: THE_Liam's 406 HDI - Bailes1992 - 03-05-2015

They go on these usually because the top mount has siezed and has put stress on the spring.

RE: THE_Liam's 406 HDI - Paul_13 - 03-05-2015

I got some strange looks turning my phone upside down

RE: THE_Liam's 406 HDI - Toms306 - 03-05-2015

Who designed these 'fatter in the middle' springs, such a dangerous idea! Didn't realise 406s USed them tbh.

RE: THE_Liam's 406 HDI - Rippthrough - 03-05-2015

It's to get more travel out of a given spring height

RE: THE_Liam's 406 HDI - Toms306 - 03-05-2015

Fair enough, makes sense. Still don't like them lol. Seen 2 cases of them wrecking the tyre when they snap myself, scaled up it must be happening to loads of cars! Confused
