Did you check the voltage feed at the pump?

RE: Fuel pump drawings none starter problem - Matt-Rallye - 15-01-2015

I haven't got any electrical testing kit available currently so i'm unable to continuity check or even voltage check anything Sad

Talk about working blind eh!

Relay etc looked all ok but gonna replace it as a matter of course. i have been told too check the fuel pressure sensor on the fuel rail also?

RE: Fuel pump drawings none starter problem - mr_fish - 15-01-2015

Have you got access to planet? Really is useful to see what's kicking off regards to pump pressure etc.

RE: Fuel pump drawings none starter problem - Matt-Rallye - 15-01-2015

No access too pug planet currently Sad

RE: Fuel pump drawings none starter problem - Poodle - 15-01-2015

I've yet to see a rail pressure sensor actually cause problems, despite being a seemingly popupar scapegoat. You won't be able to test it without a multimeter or pp2000 anyway. I would check the connections though, especially the yellow plug that clips to the block just below the starter, i didn't think of that the other evening.

Regarding the lift pump feed, you could just use a bulb - fluctuations in voltage will show up as the bulb dimming and brightening. It should be a straight 12 volts, so the light should be steady.

I have managed to find a good HDI at work i can strip for parts, so far my list is:

HP pump inc solenoid
Fuel rail
Injectors

Anything else i should pinch off it before it goes in the crush?

RE: Fuel pump drawings none starter problem - Poodle - 16-01-2015

All the looms lol, particularly door and engine, including the brown relay. Nothing else i can think of with regards to fuel related stuff though.

RE: Fuel pump drawings none starter problem - Matt-Rallye - 17-01-2015

my lift pump doesnt sound as strong as any hdi i've ever heard and tbh i hate fault finding on diesels, anyone fancy being paid to fix it?

RE: Fuel pump drawings none starter problem - Poodle - 18-01-2015

I would come and help you sort it, but you're properly miles away mate. Sad

RE: Fuel pump drawings none starter problem - Matt-Rallye - 19-01-2015

Ok so its looking increasingly like its an injector fault possibly?

Fired it up yesterday, took around 50 seconds of non stop cranking before it eventually chugged into life, very smokey (white-unburnt diesel kind) and was misfiring until it had ran for a minute or two. then it was misfiring when revved

RE: Fuel pump drawings none starter problem - mspdan - 19-01-2015

silly question as i haven't read all the thread does it start easier with easy start?

not that i enjoy using it but just a thought?

RE: Fuel pump drawings none starter problem - Poodle - 20-01-2015

Sounds like it could well be injectors... You really need to get some sort of diagnostics on there dude, that or get pro with a multimeter, we're just groping in the dark here.

RE: Fuel pump drawings none starter problem - Matt-Rallye - 20-01-2015

Ah c'mon poodle abit of groping in the dark can be fun right? Tongue

TBH ive barely looked at it since it broke down, just tried the common stuff which didnt fix it so now its sat on the drive and im using the Rallye lol

I havent got the time or patience to spanner diesels so its going to my mates garage this week with a spare set of injectors, FPR, fuel rail, HP pump and crank sensors etc hes gonna work on it on the after 5pm tariff Wink he has full diagnostics so will have a much better idea than me Smile

RE: Fuel pump drawings none starter problem - welshpug - 20-01-2015

the only difference between this and your rallye is the fuel pressure sensors and hp pump, lack of sparks too Big Grin

the rallye is also a sequentially injected commonrail system...

how about replying to your pm's anyway :p

Yeah but the rallye runs on proper fuel Wink

Shall check pm's now dude, only get the forum at work so have to be fast as i can before the boss comes back in the office lol

RE: Fuel pump drawings none starter problem - Poodle - 20-01-2015

Haha well, when you put it like that... Makeup

Fair enough mate, let us know how you/he get on.
