Has it had a full respray previously? If not, that is a surprisingly good match on the sundance.

Tbh its abit out in dull light but in sunlight it looks bang on , yellow is a weird colour tbh

nice find there with that one looks clean and tidy had one before fun to drive.

RE: 106gti sundance yellow - Kezzer30 - 09-03-2014

So been wanting to try my hand at detailing , saved some cash bought myself so goodies to make a starts and have had a few practise efforts and finally started to get the hang of it (it's not simple haha takes some doing )
Some of the new goodies

Ok so the pics are from the rear quarter of my 106 , it's had a poor respray and getting the paint fully flat is impossible due to the underneath/prep in areas but as anything it can be improved . So

This is a L.E.D light to show you the small scratches/swirls that most cars are covered in

This is after a concentrated stage 2 and stage 1 polish compound as you can see fantastic improvement

This is after a quick full panel sweep over with stage 1 and 2 there has been a massive improvement but as you can see they are still light scratches , so a much more to be done

A much more concentrated in the same area , full stage 2 and 1 and as you can see great results Smile

RE: 106gti sundance yellow - 7057sam - 10-03-2014

Great results Smile

Always scared I'm going to go to hard or 'burn' through a layer of paint when I use a machine polisher.

RE: 106gti sundance yellow - Grant - 10-03-2014

This car is so much win! Making me so tempted to be ridiculously irrational and buy one!

RE: 106gti sundance yellow - puglove - 10-03-2014

Looks so much better with the bumper strips gloss blacked

RE: 106gti sundance yellow - Tom - 10-03-2014

Forgot to ask is that a rotary or DA polisher?

RE: 106gti sundance yellow - Grant - 11-03-2014

From looking at it, rotary as I think it's an angle grinder lol

106gti sundance yellow - Kezzer30 - 11-03-2014

Its a silver line rotary buddy , saving up for a proper flex buffer etc , but this does the job fine tbh

RE: 106gti sundance yellow - Tom - 11-03-2014

Thats ballsy going straight for a rotary! Looks like you picked it up quick though, would love to do the same on mine Sad

106gti sundance yellow - Kezzer30 - 11-03-2014

Yeah u have to move quick , but the flex one im saving for its epic for job just a shame its £400 haha

RE: 106gti sundance yellow - Tom - 11-03-2014

Quicker you move the quicker your done haha! Might have to buy some of that SSR stuff :p

Very wrong! If u try and do it all too quick the results are poor , every panel has to be split into small areas and then carefully done using the correct stages haha that rear quarter isnt done and i was on it over 2hrs

RE: 106gti sundance yellow - Kezzer30 - 15-03-2014

So the weather was nice the other so I continued with the detailing .
As you can see my rear quarter was covered in swirl marks etc

The spoiler was scratched and swirled

But after some patient and hard work

Nah you have to be a prat to burn the paint. Providing you go nice and steady and perhaps read a guide for a few tips before hand, you will be fine!

Is that a crack in the rear wheel arch trim or is it the edge of a chip protector? Looks fantastic man!

106gti sundance yellow - Kezzer30 - 16-03-2014

No its edge of chip protector need to get a tar remover to clean them up tbh

RE: 106gti sundance yellow - Kezzer30 - 25-04-2014

So a few more bits done , new sunstrip and new cold air feed fitted , tad bigger than I originally wanted but managed to fit it snug so I'm happy with it .

106gti sundance yellow - Kezzer30 - 09-06-2014

So need to update , got the rear windows tinted
[Image: null_zps4f887e63.jpg]
After this i decided to go all out and sort the engine bay as this is how it looked
[Image: null_zpsfd67d312.jpg]

Gave it all a really good clean and polished my rocker covers
[Image: null_zps4381a8f9.jpg]

Then i finally painted my rear bumpstrips gloss black
[Image: null_zps35115ab0.jpg]

New pads and discs for the gti180 brakes
[Image: null_zps31c7dd0f.jpg]

And then had loads of custom covers made and polished , sanded loads of rust out and a quick blow over , tidyied all loose wires with yellow conduit and then themed the car for the french car show
[Image: null_zpseaa0d953.jpg]

I also got the one of a kind custom windscreen sticker made Smile
