RE: 205 dt sleeper - zx_volcane - 31-10-2013 You should have bags of room down the back of the engine, get a wastegate on for sure. Upto 30 psi should be plenty ![]() Might be an idea to crack on with a new bottom end with hdi rods in, if only ready to swap in if the current ones goes pop. RE: 205 dt sleeper - Paul_13 - 31-10-2013 Plans are already in place ;P RE: 205 dt sleeper - silverzx - 01-11-2013 (31-10-2013, 05:53 PM)Paul_13 Wrote: I've been told by some people that welding the waste gate shut is a big no no?! It's far from ideal. But its the lazy option and you won't suffer wastegate creep which is a pain in the ass. RE: 205 dt sleeper - Paul_13 - 11-11-2013 Picked up a replacement engine yesterday so will be rebuilding it. Hdi 16v rods included! Will keep you updated with pics Was going to run a mbc as I've heard this helps with wastegate creep. RE: 205 dt sleeper - strictly_perv - 11-11-2013 There's plenty of room for a waste gate. Just be sure you don't use too thick a plate from mani to turbo RE: 205 dt sleeper - Paul_13 - 12-11-2013 Nice one cheers for the info. A noob question I know and too lazy to search but what thickness plate do I need? Makes me wish i knew how to do all this stuff, my limit is changing wheels, help (ie tea making and collecting things) and well thats about it lol! Coming along nicely though mate! RE: 205 dt sleeper - Paul_13 - 16-11-2013 Got the bits sorted for my air intake. 57/63 reducer elbow, 2 x 63mm joiners, 63mm x 25mm tee for the oil breather Length of 63mm flexi pipe 63mm is 2.5" I thought 3" would be too big to fit under the bonnet of the 205 ![]() ![]() Need to clock the turbo next and sort out the Mbc RE: 205 dt sleeper - silverzx - 16-11-2013 (16-11-2013, 02:49 PM)Paul_13 Wrote: Err.. What you planning on doing with that T piece? RE: 205 dt sleeper - Paul_13 - 16-11-2013 Linking the oil breather pipework into it Getting a bit of high crankcase pressure RE: 205 dt sleeper - silverzx - 16-11-2013 (16-11-2013, 03:51 PM)Paul_13 Wrote: Linking the oil breather pipework into it Never thought of that.. If your de-filtered it'll make no odds surely. And I thought that bit by the TMIC vent to atmosphere anyway as soon as you take it off the standard intake? RE: 205 dt sleeper - Paul_13 - 16-11-2013 I've got it venting to atmosphere at the moment Thought I'd give the tee a go. If it's piped in as standard my guess it it needs it. Especially if I've got it boosting at 31psi! Any blow by the rings will pressurise the block RE: 205 dt sleeper - Jimbo - 16-11-2013 Youl just run boost pressure.down into the engine breather etc. Surely you dont want that as youl have no breather at all on boost EDIT: thats your intake pipe clearly not a boost pipe hahaha such a fool I can be RE: 205 dt sleeper - Paul_13 - 16-11-2013 The tee is situated after the filter btw The tee won't be in line with the compressed air pipework. I was thinking what you were on about ![]() RE: 205 dt sleeper - Paul_13 - 29-11-2013 ![]() RE: 205 dt sleeper - Tom - 29-11-2013 Lucky bastard. I want some ![]() RE: 205 dt sleeper - Mitch - 01-12-2013 I have that t-piece after the air filter, seems to work fine ![]() RE: 205 dt sleeper - Paul_13 - 14-12-2013 Really need to get a move on with this, think my engine is using up coolant quite a bit! My gti still needs fixing too! RE: 205 dt sleeper - Tom - 14-12-2013 All xuds lose coolant somewhere! Its character :p RE: 205 dt sleeper - Paul_13 - 14-12-2013 Haha I know, I'm surprised it hasn't run away yet I've waaay overfilled it with oil! RE: 205 dt sleeper - Tom - 14-12-2013 I'm sure all that oil will be all over the block soon! RE: 205 dt sleeper - Paul_13 - 14-12-2013 Already is RE: 205 dt sleeper - Jesskendall123 - 12-01-2014 Love it! RE: 205 dt sleeper - Paul_13 - 17-01-2014 ![]() RE: 205 dt sleeper - silverzx - 17-01-2014 Err, oil much? ![]() RE: 205 dt sleeper - Paul_13 - 17-01-2014 It's bleeding a bit. And I have a massive boost leak somewhere. I think it's coming from the mating face on the head but being phase1 it has bolts instead of studs originally and the damage has already been done. It did hold up fine for quite a while but has got much worse. ![]() I've upsized the fuel filter a bit RE: 205 dt sleeper - Paul_13 - 25-01-2014 ![]() HDI rods ![]() ![]() Found the boost leak! ![]() New one! ![]() Manual boost controller ![]() ![]() That's better! I turned the fuel up a fair whack after that pic. Need to fit my ground LDA pin again Its doing around 30 psi now Need to get on with the engine rebuild and TD04 RE: 205 dt sleeper - Tom - 25-01-2014 Bet its going well now? |
