You can spend a lot less than £1500 on a XUD and make good power. Wouldn't be as much as 200bhp but a lot more torque

1500 could get you forged rods, 11mm bosch and a decent turbo seeing over 200bhp. Itwasntme

And the rest! You'd have enough change from £1500 to buy yourself a GTi and remind yourself why boost is so much more fun to drive.

You could really go to town with £1500 on an XUD...

Or for £1500, you could have a boosted 6 Big Grin. That way, you get the fun of boost and not as much cancer as you get with a derv

Not much good for a long commute daily on the old fuel bill though!

Does that include mapping?
I could buy and rebuild an XUD with forged internals, ARP studs, new head gasket and cambelt ect, 11mm pump and a decnt blower to match for less I reckon. In theory should be fairly reliable 200bhp engine.
Thats longer smiles per gallon TMI

But, you know personal prefferance and all I did wonder whether Eli should have just bought a tidy 3dr DT and transfer all the bits over but that would take twice as long atleast.
Atleast she has a nice shell still with an OK engine Popcorn

I can't bring myself to do it yet!

Now that the fuel gauge is working; it's shocked me how economical it is! I was not expecting to see that much fuel in the tank!
(I'm going to keep a full jerry can in the car in case it's way out)!

RE: Miss_Tap's Diablo GTi-6 > XUD project - Piggy - 29-09-2013

Just chuck in 10litres of new rapeseed in when you chuck 20litres of diesel in.

Try it. Cant hurt.

Can be hugely helpful with MPGs....mind coming from a GTi, I suppose anything is!!

I was getting worried that my 2.1 was only doing 40ish...then realised my fuel tank was leaking lmao

This thread definitely rivals Dum-Dum's threads for crazy/zaniness. A good read Smile

RE: Miss_Tap's Diablo GTi-6 > XUD project - ginge191 - 27-10-2013

Bodged?? Yessssir!!

To be honest; the only real bodge is the intercooler which is temporary anywho!

Sorted some more fueling out today, much more pokey

Im having headaches with dvla who want all sorts of paperwork I dont have

It's not that bad to do. I changed the 206's V5, only bits that were actually changing was the engine no. and engine capacity. Took it to where I got it MOT'd and got the guy to write me out a mini inspection on garage headed letter paper just saying car was safe for road use etc etc. Sent that to the DVLA along with the changes on the V5 and they sent the amended document back... Happy Days.

Pretty sure Darren done this on his 306 as his cylinder capacity has changed from the XUD to the HDi.

RE: Miss_Tap's Diablo GTi-6 > XUD project - darrenjlobb - 28-10-2013

Yeah I did the same as Mark, and had no bother, sent it off, they sent it back all changed...

Better to keep things legal where you can...

RE: Miss_Tap's Diablo GTi-6 > XUD project - Piggy - 28-10-2013

Im trying to make things legal guys!!

But they want either a letter of proof of purchase on headed paper or a AA or RAC inspection done.

has it got to be a AA or RAC jobby? Like I said I just went to a MOT Registered station.

RE: Miss_Tap's Diablo GTi-6 > XUD project - Piggy - 28-10-2013

may ring them and ask. I made some friends at a local station.
I need it done before MOT in dec or the emmisions will fail...being they will do a test for a 1.6 petrol!

Incorrect. Your Mot will merely test it as a diesel instead of a petrol, no worries.

We has the MOT prior to DVLA/V5 notifications.

Assuming your mot tester is an idiot or sympathetic, yes.

How does this work with insurance, is it effectively invalid as the car isn't as per the v5..? Confused

Pass. I never remember showing my insurer any type of v5 document. The insurance covers the car with the engine change up to the same power output as the XU10. They are aware of ALL modifications on the car

But surely that means they are insuring you for a different thing than what is on the V5... making it invalid.. doesn't matter whether they insure you for it or not?

RE: Miss_Tap's Diablo GTi-6 > XUD project - Dum-Dum - 29-10-2013

Yeah but if the insurance know its different and know what they are insuring then there is no issues

Miss_Tap's Diablo GTi-6 > XUD project - MissTap_GTI6 - 29-10-2013

My insurance company were happy to insure me as long as the bhp wasn't higher than the gti's.

There were no questions of declaration when I did this change.

RE: Miss_Tap's Diablo GTi-6 > XUD project - Poodle - 29-10-2013

No, quite, just wondering really. Now that makes common sense, if you know what i mean, but you never bloody know with insurance/dvla/any other obligatory car-related service. Rolleyes

RE: Miss_Tap's Diablo GTi-6 > XUD project - ginge191 - 29-10-2013

The I get where you're coming from Alex, it would make sense what you say, but we've been careful and specific with informing those and triple checking most companies to ensure to dont require more information such as engineer reports etc.
