All the damage is done while the engine is under load.....just weakens and bends them over time, until they finally let go / hit an oil squirter and lock the little end.....when they acually let go is rarely when they were pushed past there limits, normally a few days / weeks later when they have finally had enough of running in there newly found position....

Also, I wish people would stop saying that Boost Pressures = Cylinder Pressures.

No, like REALLY.

You've not considered how dense the air is, the injection timing, volumetric efficiency at the given RPM, injection length and all sorts of other variables. It is a contributing factor, but not the be all and end all of cylinder pressures.
