RE: Carl and Jonny's XUD Hillclimber - 306racecar - 14-12-2012

I am pretty sure this has been covered before, but here are our findings on weight whilst we were stripping the car.

Item Weight (Kg's)
Drivers Seat: 19.3
Passenger Seat: 16.8
Front Carpet: 6.6
Lower Rear Seats: 7.5
Upper Rear Seats: 10.1
Front Door Cards: 5.8
Rear door cards: 5.7
Roof Lining: 1.5
Rear Carpet: 7.0
Boot Carpet/
Sound Proofing: 5.2
Parcel Shelf: 4.4
Wheel Trim X4: 1.9
Plastic Trim: 6.9

There were some other parts that were weighed, according to my notes, which i can't quite figure out Confused. However, the end result was a saving of 111.2 kg's from stripping the interior. We haven't included the dash in this, I'm assuming that had a fair bit of weight in it, seeming as it took two of us to handle. That has been stripped of all its wires and won't be going back in, so if anyone has an idea of how much it weighs, that would be great!

So, based on the fact that the 3 door model weighs in at 1135 kg's, that will bring us down to 1023.8 kg's. There is are still areas where we believe we can save some more weight, so once those have been figured out , we'll update you.

That roof looks rather weighty

RE: Carl and Jonny's XUD Hillclimber - Jonny81191 - 14-12-2012

It has to be said that some of the bits were a bit damp lol

We're gonna get it weighed anyway.

RE: Carl and Jonny's XUD Hillclimber - Tallguy_2 - 15-12-2012

I thought this was secret!?

RE: Carl and Jonny's XUD Hillclimber - c.gerrard - 15-12-2012

People change Big Grin

We've decided that there's too much knowledge on here to go it alone!

RE: Carl and Jonny's XUD Hillclimber - 306racecar - 15-12-2012

Bit of an update and some more pictures Big Grin

We've spent most of the day with angle grinders, stripping off underseal. It's a pain in the arse, and slow progress. But we're getting there!

Are there any phase 2's without a big hole in the rear arch? Tongue

Looks like a good project though guys. Big Grin

RE: Carl and Jonny's XUD Hillclimber - ozonehostile - 15-12-2012

RE: Carl and Jonny's XUD Hillclimber - Blandy - 15-12-2012

No, but you're welcome to come and pick it all up lol

Actually, might weigh all the sweepings off the floor when we clear up. But that won't be accurate as the drive "moults" gravel..

RE: Carl and Jonny's XUD Hillclimber - samass - 15-12-2012

well, you should of thought of that before, you useless bastard.

RE: Carl and Jonny's XUD Hillclimber - 306racecar - 22-02-2013

Right, Long time without an update.

Firstly, this is still happening!!

However, it looks like the timescale will have to be changed. Both Carl and myself are just too busy to get the work in on top of our own cars and occasionally going mountain biking lol I think it's also fair to say that we don't want to rush, this will take time and also money, both of which are in short supply Big Grin

But the days are getting longer and drier, so soon enough we'll be able to crack on and get on with it.

A more interesting update will follow soon!

RE: Carl and Jonny's XUD Hillclimber - Pompey306mark - 22-02-2013

I have a dash in the garage will weigh it tomorrow.

RE: Carl and Jonny's XUD Hillclimber - Piggy - 22-02-2013

this looks a great project...great stats for losing weight too...

We did the removal of underseal and soundproofing on the rally car with an acetylene torch...basically set fire to the stuff and it dripped off!!

But not so sure that would have been a good idea with that plastic shed!

epic effort boys...keep going

RE: Carl and Jonny's XUD Hillclimber - JamesG - 22-02-2013

Will be keeping an eye on this looks like it will be epic!

RE: Carl and Jonny's XUD Hillclimber - Pompey306mark - 25-02-2013

13kgs without upper and lower glovebox, centre fascia, and vents.

RE: Carl and Jonny's XUD Hillclimber - Jonny81191 - 25-02-2013

RE: Carl and Jonny's XUD Hillclimber - Pompey306mark - 25-02-2013

You and me both mate, Just wish I had a working car so I could get to Carl's.

RE: Carl and Jonny's XUD Hillclimber - c.gerrard - 25-02-2013

lol

Loving the hype!

I think once the ball is rolling properly we will get this done fairly quick, as we have quite a lot of parts ready to go on!
