I wouldn't mind an aftermarket gauge, just don't really understand how to go about it. I've sourced an STDT cluster so going to just plumb that in.

Was driving home yesterday and lights started dimming and flashing with the indicators. Also radio started turning off and on.

Went to start it this morning and it's dead, I'm guessing it's either starter or alternator. :/

Video of it:

Most unreliable car I've owned to date!

You sure Its not just an earth problem if the lights are dimmed with the indicators?
An earth problem cab also less to non starting as the battery won't be charging.

Tried jumping it?

I checked the earth's, they look fine.

I haven't got anyone to jump off until the Mrs gets home from work and by the time she does I won't be needing the car.

I think I'll make alternative plans for getting to Uni tomorrow then I'll jump it Sat & take it back to Somerset.

RE: Silverzx's White 205 1.9 DT XUD - ozonehostile - 28-02-2013

I can't see the vid on my phone, but what are the symptoms? Is It turning over or dead?

RE: Silverzx's White 205 1.9 DT XUD - silverzx - 28-02-2013

Bit of both.

I'm hoping the XUD9 starter and alternator setup will fit in as it currently has XUD7 alternator and starter. It's not a case of will it fit, it's a case of will it fit in the space I have.

I think Max hasn't had any issues so hopefully it'll be ok.

Also the drivers side indicator managed to fall through so after an hour of fishing with hooks I gave up trying to get the little white plastic bit out. I was going to remove the wing but the tack welds are pretty damn strong/seized so gave up on that.

Instead I made a DIY replacement = CHRONIC!

Obviously I will be producing these if there is enough interest at around £9.99 delivered with no warranty.

On mine I've got an xud9 starter, but running a citroen c15 alternator and belt (already had them) and works great

Silverzx's White 205 1.9 DT XUD - silverzx - 28-02-2013

Interesting. I'm hoping the XUD9 one will go on ok. Does the C15 one have a bit more torque?

RE: Silverzx's White 205 1.9 DT XUD - silverzx - 04-03-2013

Clutch inside appears to be fine so trying a new cable.

Are there differences between the phase 1 & 2 gearboxes?

RE: Silverzx's White 205 1.9 DT XUD - ginge191 - 04-03-2013

What gearbox are you using? the 1.9 XUD box?

RE: Silverzx's White 205 1.9 DT XUD - silverzx - 04-03-2013

Yup off a p/97 phase 1 XUD.

Edit: Been told it should fit, obviously you swap the selector arms over (which part of can drop into the box leading it it needing dismantling) - this wasn't a problem. The gear linkages however don't look like they'd fit onto the BE3 box. Some people are saying they do fit, my mechanic is saying they don't. My source: people on forums, his source: he raced 205's for a few years.

HELLO MATE IS THIS FOR SALE !!!!!

(11-12-2012, 03:07 PM)silverzx Wrote: Went and picked my new car up on Saturday.

It's a white 3 door 205 in XLD spec (poverty spec - manual windows, cloth seats etc) with a XUD 1.9DT engine fitted by WelshPug.

Been resprayed recently so body is very good condition, inside is also very clean, a very "retro" feel to the components and dash compared to the 306.

Here's some pictures:

hi is this for sale ??????//

RE: Silverzx's White 205 1.9 DT XUD - silverzx - 04-03-2013

On the positive side I have clutch powers!!!!!

All be it Be1 powers... Smile

@sparky - what you offering?

RE: Silverzx's White 205 1.9 DT XUD - silverzx - 08-03-2013

Ordered a couple of goodies for this, nothing major though.

No Smoke No Poke sticker and a volt meter gauge.

Will get some pictures when they're both fitted.

RE: Silverzx's White 205 1.9 DT XUD - silverzx - 05-04-2013

Fitted sticker today and attempted a stage 1 tune on the K14 and Lucas. All was going fine unti BOTH of my 4mm allen keys got rounded off.

Therefore was left at 14.5 PSI with no smoke on boost but capable of "coaling" if planting it off boost in high gears.

Need to get the grinder on the keys and take 'em back 0.5mm, then I can carry on up'ing the fuel until 17~22 PSI.

Definately need to get stuck into it after Final Year Project is done and dusted on Thursday.

This thing should be pretty wild once it's got all the "goodies" on! Big Grin

Keep having to use the smoke screen as the entertainment factor as it doesn't really have any pull. Fun to slide around corners in though! The rear desperately needs beating down! Big Grin

RE: Silverzx's White 205 1.9 DT XUD - silverzx - 14-05-2013

So got a TD04L bolted on still on standard Lucas fueling, credit to Ruan for giving me some advice when needed.

Goes pretty well as few people saw on Sundays meet.

I have however now developed a rattle in the exhaust system somewhere, maybe an excuse to sack off the 1.75/2" exhaust for something a bit bigger if I can find someone to weld one up!

I've got a nice picture of a K14, T25 and TD04L all lined up but I keep forgetting to bring my camera home so will put them up tomorrow or something..

RE: Silverzx's White 205 1.9 DT XUD - Midnightclub - 14-05-2013

Christ that's a tiny exhaust lol! Td04 would spool much faster with a bigger zorst.. standard 1.9dt exhaust is 2.25"

Meh, don't think there's a hurry on a standard Lucas.

RE: Silverzx's White 205 1.9 DT XUD - ozonehostile - 14-05-2013

It goes like f*ck considering everything is standard apart from the turbo Big Grin

shotgun once youve sorted a frankenpump out Big Grin

RE: Silverzx's White 205 1.9 DT XUD - Midnightclub - 14-05-2013

Well, even on a Lucas if it spools up a few hundred rpm earlier then it'll be making a fair bit more power before the fuel cut.. get a Bosch on it man!

"Patience is a virtue" guys, don't forget it. "Good things come to those who wait". Angel

As always had the camera with intention of making a guide but once your covered in oil/XUD crap (which is pretty quick) you soon can't be bothered. Blush

I was referring to the engine change nt the turbo. :o

Turbos easy enough, just takes blood sweat and swearing especially if "things" come up.
