RE: White phase 1, now with added truck turbo - ozonehostile - 11-11-2012 yeah that sounds like a good future improvement. highly reccommend twin entry turbos though, it spools up as fast as a turbo half its size ![]() RE: White phase 1, now with added truck turbo - parrotveasey81 - 11-11-2012 (11-11-2012, 01:39 PM)ozonehostile Wrote: yeah that sounds like a good future improvement. highly reccommend twin entry turbos though, it spools up as fast as a turbo half its size and if what i have read is right it should spool up even faster when you separate the cylinders into the right pairs RE: White phase 1, now with added truck turbo - ozonehostile - 11-11-2012 (11-11-2012, 01:45 PM)parrotveasey81 Wrote:(11-11-2012, 01:39 PM)ozonehostile Wrote: yeah that sounds like a good future improvement. highly reccommend twin entry turbos though, it spools up as fast as a turbo half its size very good point buddy, a trip to the pipe welder might be in order soon..... RE: White phase 1, now with added truck turbo - ozonehostile - 11-11-2012 Really impressed with the interrst my car has generated so far, thanks for the welcome everyone!. Lots of project updates coming soon, got to re-insure it again then begins big spec upgrades to cope with all the extra power, first job Is getting a decent gti6 rear disc beam on (if anyone has one?, preferably refurbed) also need to get some bigger brakes upfront as it feels like Im pushing my luck with the gti items a bit :/ White phase 1, now with added truck turbo - ash240970 - 11-11-2012 406 V6 brakes and front hubs fit I believe - with a bit of woek RE: White phase 1, now with added truck turbo - Ben - 11-11-2012 Gti brakes on the front should honestly feel plenty good enough, maybe they just need a service. Mine weren't so good a few months ago, turned out a slider was seized. They are great again now. Only place I've ever seen refurbed beams is eBay, around 250-350 I think. Not a bad price I'd say looking at how much it would cost for two shafts and the bearings. Nice car btw ill be keeping and eye on its progress. Interested to learn more about the type of turbo, sounds like it spools up very quickly for its size. RE: White phase 1, now with added truck turbo - Pugmarshall - 11-11-2012 As Andy says, 406 Brembo calipers from a V6 are a good upgrade. They do squeel quite badly at low speeds but if you can live with it they're fine. White phase 1, now with added truck turbo - ash240970 - 11-11-2012 If you fit the hubs and carriers as well I believe the squealing is virtually eliminated RE: White phase 1, now with added truck turbo - ozonehostile - 11-11-2012 406 brembos sound like the way to go just had a quick browse on the gti forum, pretty useful info on brake conversions, roll on payday haha White phase 1, now with added truck turbo - ash240970 - 11-11-2012 And if you ever get fed up of the 1.9 engine I have a 2.1 sat in my parts store(Malvern) I don't think I'll ever get round to using - be rude not to once you've got the bigger brakes on lol RE: White phase 1, now with added truck turbo - Niall - 11-11-2012 (11-11-2012, 08:55 PM)ash240970 Wrote: If you fit the hubs and carriers as well I believe the squealing is virtually eliminated good luck fitting the hubs. we looked into this.
