Ah right, ye ive had a new gearbox and i put a new headgasket and cambelt in too. Should be ok for a while...hopefully!

Re: TU petrol engines - Matt - 12-12-2011

Re: TU petrol engines - Foxy-jim - 12-12-2011

Re: TU petrol engines - hbomb1905 - 12-12-2011

And with a 1.6 tu but only auto

Foxy-jim Wrote:Haha. Fair enough! Going to put a 1.6 TU in mine! Haha. Sticking by it!

Go for the 16v out of the 106 GTI/Saxo VTS Wink

Re: TU petrol engines - KrisB - 12-12-2011

I'd love to drop a VTS lump in a 306, lightweight and 180bhp is easy with standalone, cams and TB's.

Re: TU petrol engines - Foxy-jim - 12-12-2011

The vtr is a straight swap with my 1.4 block!

Re: TU petrol engines - Craig-o - 12-12-2011

HG is definitely an issue....had a 1.4 and a 1.6 and the HG went on both lol :handgestures-thumbdown:

Yea i had to do the headgasket on my old 1.1 ax and apparently it was done on the pug a few weeks before i bought it (hopfully as there is a tiny bit of oil residue in the rad cap lol) plus ive done about 5 or 6 at work

Re: TU petrol engines - Jake - 15-12-2011

What sort of figures do the 1.6/1.8 engines push out standard?

Re: TU petrol engines - Dan! - 15-12-2011

Pretty sure it goes...

1.4 - 75hp
1.6 8v - 90hp or 100hp depending on year
1.6 16v - 120hp
1.8 16v - 115hp

Yes, the 1.6 16v is more powerful than the 1.8 16v :? lol

Re: TU petrol engines - Foxy-jim - 15-12-2011

The 1.6 8v later model is 98bhp! That's the one that is going in mine!

Re: TU petrol engines - Craig-o - 15-12-2011

If your dropping a different lump in you might aswell go for the 106 gti/saxo VTS lump, although I'd get some insurance quotes first!

Re: TU petrol engines - Niall - 15-12-2011

The 16v TU is a fantastic engine! You want one of the latest ones that has a turbo on the front of it though!

Re: TU petrol engines - Foxy-jim - 16-12-2011

As I have said already. Only dropping the 1.6 8v in as it is a simple case of just swapping the block and ecu over then job done!

Re: TU petrol engines - Matt - 17-12-2011

Get a vtr engine in there Wink

Re: TU petrol engines - Foxy-jim - 17-12-2011

That's what I'm planning!
