Refuses to prove point or provide evidence to back up statements or even provide minor details that would allow people to check these statements - assumption = lies

So you're just guessing then? If you want to be useful, don't bother pretending to be more knowledgeable then saying the information is available on the Internet.

RE: Gearbox ratios - darrenjlobb - 30-11-2015

Must admit I've never come across a BE3 with different gearsets in it, but I'm not saying they don't exist...But would be interesting to know what there in if they do....

jsut had a very quick look at servicebox, 306 1.9td - showing some different options for gearsets

RE: Gearbox ratios - Ruan - 30-11-2015

I'd agree that there are definitely differences in gearboxes across all BE boxes and between ages, it's definitely not as simple as "XUD9TE box", "HDi box", "HDi Eco Box" - there are subtle differences inbetween.

Don't ask me on the differences though - but exactly as Welshpug has said, all the information will be on Servicebox, you've just got to know what you're looking for and make a note of what age/RPO stuff changed.

LOL.

I have been moving house, not had a pc or laptop to hand for months, therefore servicebox is rather trickier to use, not that I need to PROVE what is out there for YOU to look up.

therefore, as proven below, YOUR assumption that I am wrong, is blown out of the water.

not guessing, its a statement, I'm not pretending, ever.

oh look, there you go, thanks for posting that up.

granted the diesels will not vary by quite that much, but the sweeping generalisation made by a few people that "all be boxes are the same"! did not specify diesels, if you look at Petrol BE boxes you'll see an even wilder variance.

RE: Gearbox ratios - Mattcheese31 - 30-11-2015

Tbf I'm late to the party here but I've noticed differences between xud9te boxes, thought I was tripping having been told many times they're all the same, my Sigma which had a replacement 405 xud put in it revved higher at 70mph than my current cherry one... sigma was a faster car too, maybe something to do with it.

Oh yeah, let's try not to abuse each other eh lads, we're all here to share information x

RE: Gearbox ratios - zx_volcane - 01-12-2015

Looks like we could do with getting this info down off servicebox and making sense of it

Presumably from the screenshot i posted it shows the number of teeth on the gearset next to the part number in brackets eg (39x41) - and from this we can work out the gear ratios yeah?

Time to get a spreadsheet on the go.

RE: Gearbox ratios - powerandtorque - 01-12-2015

That's correct - so in that example, 39x41 would be 1.05 ratio for 4th. The lower the number, the taller the gear.

As well as the individual ratios, there will be different final drive options - the two combined, together with the overall tyre size giving the effective gearing.

Unfortunately, whilst Servicebox is very good at showing you the various options and approximate age/RPO that changes were made, it's not always particularly clear what models particular gearboxes were found on and some of the options on Servicebox you won't find fitted to vehicles (openly) sold in this country. It's one thing finding a gearbox that looks ideal listed on Servicebox, it's quite another actually finding something that has it fitted and people aren't often keen to share where some of the more desirable/valuable options are to be found!

RE: Gearbox ratios - cully - 01-12-2015

well there are only 2 std gearbox's for the BE3/6

1st 2.92
2nd 1.87
3rd 1.41
4th 1.15
5th 0.95
6th 0.80
Final drive 3.94:1 or 4.05:1

casting MARKING (TA38) TA38 is 3.94:1 Box
casting MARKING TD43 (TD43) (TA70) TA70 is 4.05:1 box

this is an old one I have, more predominantly petrol biased, but you could expand it to the devils fuel easily Tongue

RE: Gearbox ratios - Poodle - 01-12-2015

Does that picture work for anyone else?

RE: Gearbox ratios - powerandtorque - 01-12-2015

Welshpug's above? No it doesn't, although attachments in general on this forum don't seem to work for me Sad

Assuming that's it's Sean McKeown's gear ratio spreadsheet though I've got a copy and can email it across to anyone that wants it - as Mei says, it's distinctly petrol 'box biased but would be easy enough to expand/modify it to add in additional derv 'boxes should you wish to.

RE: Gearbox ratios - Toms306 - 01-12-2015

Nope.

RE: Gearbox ratios - welshpug - 01-12-2015

that's the one Anthony, I've got it on my phone lol

RE: Gearbox ratios - powerandtorque - 01-12-2015

What link? Welshpug's post just has a broken [attachment=26066] in it that you can't click on.

ZX_Volcane's screenshot of Servicebox from yesterday works fine if that's what you're talking about?

Pictures seem to work for 'admins/staff' apparently which would explain why it works for you and no one else

sounds like permissions are screwed up then, as you are a moderator.

That's what us mere plebeians get - no link or anything that you can click, just a broken attachment.

Yes that works fine ThumbsUp

(and is the same spreadsheet that I already had, so no need to email it to anyone now)

RE: Gearbox ratios - Poodle - 01-12-2015

Hence why the picture issue hasn't been fixed yet; because it doesn't affect the important people. Wink
