RE: water pre-heater - Magenta Sunset - 14-11-2015 was working when I bought it from a dealer. Kept it serviced regular ever since. (that's 2 metal pipes (corroded), condenser (pin hole), & regular regas/check) ![]() RE: water pre-heater - Toms306 - 14-11-2015 Sounds like more than just servicing lol, most don't bother replacing those parts when they fail which then ruins the rest of the system. ![]() RE: water pre-heater - Magenta Sunset - 14-11-2015 having enjoyed the benefits one summer, I decided never to do without it ![]() RE: water pre-heater - JTaylor2005 - 14-11-2015 Do the glow plugs come into contact with the water at all? Or are they mounted into a metal heat transfer block? RE: water pre-heater - Poodle - 14-11-2015 The tips sit in the coolant. RE: water pre-heater - JTaylor2005 - 14-11-2015 Ahh okay fair enough. Was just wondering if I could take one out to measure up etc without loosing too much coolant and having to bleed it all out again RE: water pre-heater - tigerstyle - 14-11-2015 I've some I can measure next week if needs be. RE: water pre-heater - JTaylor2005 - 14-11-2015 If you can do that would be good ![]() Thanks ![]() RE: water pre-heater - HDi--Power - 14-11-2015 (14-11-2015, 06:44 AM)Poodle Wrote: Interesting, i wonder what it is that made those cars heat up so much quicker then, i'll have to do some more testing. Did any of those cars have the later water cooled egr? I noticed that seems to speed up the warm up process when combined with the water reheater. RE: water pre-heater - Poodle - 14-11-2015 Nope, well one did, but it was blanked. RE: water pre-heater - Dum-Dum - 15-11-2015 The thing is HDi Power, if it did nothing or at very least gave no tangible benefit then Peugeot wouldn't waste their money fitting it. RE: water pre-heater - Toms306 - 15-11-2015 Surely they were fitted for emissions reasons? Cabin heat would just be an added benefit? RE: water pre-heater - HDi--Power - 15-11-2015 It doesn't do nothing but the effect I found was not amazing. I tested mine completely, I tapped into the control wires and had an led in the cabin to see when they were cycling on and off and checked all the plugs for condition as my car is not the fastest to warm up, All 4 plugs were like brand new when I tested (maybe replaced by previous owner??). I plan on checking it all out again when I get time as the 16v I have heats up about 25% faster |
