RE: HDI Injectors - Toms306 - 06-04-2014 When removing on the breakers I just bend the pipes as no-one buys them lol. Doing this this morning, all going ok so far, but cant get the last copper washer out! 2 came out fine, one needed poking with a screwdriver and then picked it up with copper grease on the old injector (that tip works both ways lol). But this last one wont budge. ![]() ![]() Anyone? Gotta refit these soon! RE: HDI Injectors - mcglynn - 06-04-2014 If you get a flat head screwdriver that is just bigger than the ID of the washer then tap it lightly with a hammer into the stuck one, try twisting then lifting it up. May take a few goes but usually does the trick RE: HDI Injectors - Toms306 - 06-04-2014 That hasn't worked either, its still stuck solid. ![]() RE: HDI Injectors - mcglynn - 06-04-2014 Pour some plus gas into it maybe? Im not sure what else, if you can get some sort of scribe underneath it you might be able to pull it up towards you, screwdriver is your best bet though. RE: HDI Injectors - Toms306 - 06-04-2014 Eventually got it out lol. Carb cleaner, WD40, tiny screwdriver and hammered all the way round the edge, then it finally moved! ![]() RE: HDI Injectors - mcglynn - 06-04-2014 Goood man now to find out if it goes any better? ![]() RE: HDI Injectors - Toms306 - 06-04-2014 (06-04-2014, 05:31 PM)mcglynn Wrote: Goood man now to find out if it goes any better? Doesn't seem to. Seems worse if anything! ![]() They are much quieter (low mileage 076s) but that about all I can say for now tbh. ![]() RE: HDI Injectors - mcglynn - 06-04-2014 Aye if theyre quieter thats a start. Mine made the car start noticeably better snd ran better too/felt sharper. RE: HDI Injectors - Toms306 - 06-04-2014 It feels noticeably less sharp tbh, I actually wondered if I'd knocked a sensor plug out while messing around under there! But doesn't look like it. Should be going for a decent drive tomorrow though, where it should hopefully get to temp lol so will see what happens, Re: HDI Injectors - HD-Aye! - 19-04-2014 So today I bought a set of these And I swapped all 4 injectors out. Quite a straight forward job really. Handy to have a airline blower and blow out the holes before putting in the replacement injectors. Gotta say good improvement on noise. Just need to sort the wheel bearing whine now and fit a brand new alternator as thats wining too!! Least its not rattling anymore. Just whining lol RE: HDI Injectors - Toms306 - 19-04-2014 Mine haven't got better. ![]() Re: RE: HDI Injectors - HD-Aye! - 20-04-2014 (19-04-2014, 08:41 PM)Toms306 Wrote: Mine haven't got better. I forgot to say, I disconnected an orange plug to the high pressure pump and I forgot to reconnect. The car still ran without it which I thought was weird. Did u reconnect urs? Check everything else? Whats the issue with urs? Does it rev freely? On all four? RE: HDI Injectors - Toms306 - 20-04-2014 The orange plug is 3rd piston deactivation iirc. It's just slow as hell tbh, revs fine, but it just feels flat when accelerating, barely any pull at all, doesn't even spin up the wheels in the wet so its not just my imagination lol. RE: HDI Injectors - welshpug - 20-04-2014 sounds like MAF not injectors. RE: HDI Injectors - Toms306 - 20-04-2014 Pp shows the flow rates to be ok. Tried running without which was marginally worse and also 2 other mafs with no change lol. RE: HDI Injectors - welshpug - 20-04-2014 bet none were new... dumped the egr yet? RE: HDI Injectors - Toms306 - 20-04-2014 No not new, but working fine on other cars and tested with pp. I didn't blank egr, but that is possible tbh, similar symptom to the Vectra with the stuck egr, but that had enough power to spin up in 3rd and overtake on b roads and smoked like bugger, also didn't start easy. The HDi doesn't smoke at all (hence thinking fuel issue) and starts fine. RE: HDI Injectors - HD-Aye! - 20-04-2014 Was the issue there before changing the injectors? Silly question but when was the fuel filter last changed? Also do the HDI'S have a pressure regulator? Might be worth checking/testing? RE: HDI Injectors - Toms306 - 20-04-2014 Yeah it was the same before the injector change, that's why I changed them lol. Fuel filter was done a month ago. They do have a pressure regulator which I admit I haven't checked yet, knowing my luck I'll break it/get crap in it so not even gonna chance removing it lol. RE: HDI Injectors - DeeTurbo - 20-04-2014 I wouldn't remove it unless you have cutting out or running on issues. I've noticed on some of the later ones they don't have the outer O ring but a gasket, if you undo these you will need a new gasket or an outer O ring and guess what the gaskets are not listed on service box! RE: HDI Injectors - Toms306 - 20-04-2014 Ah ok, definitely wont touch it lol. It does run on a small amount, or rather it doesn't cut as quick as other HDi's I've got, I've pulled the key and grabbed the door handle before it stops....but not sure if its just my imagination lol. Not bothered by that anyway tbh. Thanks for the info though, they do seem to made the later ones worse with more emmisions crap and cost cutting ideas! RE: HDI Injectors - DeeTurbo - 20-04-2014 The thing I found working on the estate is the length of the bolts that are sometimes used, they could have save a fortune if they used slightly shorter bolts, they would have been easier to get off as there would be less corroded shitty thread the nut has to travel over and get stuck on. Is it standard or does it have a map on it? RE: HDI Injectors - Toms306 - 20-04-2014 Stage 1 map, but not a 'full' stage 1 apparently. ![]() RE: HDI Injectors - jammapic - 21-04-2014 Tom, not sure if you are talking about the map I sent but it was a full stage 1, and I also did you a stage 1+ map as well.... RE: HDI Injectors - Toms306 - 21-04-2014 Different car James. ![]() ![]() RE: HDI Injectors - Poodle - 21-04-2014 You can get the o-rings and seals for pretty much everything on these fuel systems from your local diesel specialist. ![]() RE: HDI Injectors - Toms306 - 21-04-2014 Local? You've seen where I live. ![]() I take it you mean somewhere like Diesco though? RE: HDI Injectors - Poodle - 21-04-2014 I have no idea what diesco is. RE: HDI Injectors - Toms306 - 21-04-2014 My bad, thought they were a chain company but it seems not. http://www.diescoautoandmarineelectrical.co.uk/ |
