RE: HDi Starting Issues (lift pump power circuit) - mcglynn - 10-02-2014 Tried a new battery tonight. Still getting random voltages at the lift pump. Eg ~ 3 ign off ~ 10 ign on now. When I cross wires 4 & 8 on relay pin no power to lift pump. Again ~ 10v accross p+ & p- RE: HDi Starting Issues (lift pump power circuit) - mcglynn - 11-02-2014 ok, i don't know where the voltages are coming from and i apologise for their innaccuracies. after some further reading (big thanks to the bba-reman forum & angus on there, helping other people with what seems to be the same problem) i have come to the conclusion i have a break in the wiring between pin 4 & the non motor side of fuse 35. When i do a continuity test on this i get resistance/open circuit. What i plan to do tomorrow when i get a hold of a good charged battery is test that the motor will run on its own wiring, if i run a wire from pin 8 on the relay plug (should be 12v) to the motor side of Fuse 35. If the pump runs then i know ive definately got a break in the wiring from Pin 4 - F35. the hard part will probably be stripping the loom, following the wire and finding the break. If i don't find a break or cant follow the loom, i will probably cut the wire at both ends and wire in my own wire. Fingers crossed i dont have to as that's a last resort. Thanks for the help so far with wiring diagrams etc, hopefully getting to the bottom of this. RE: HDi Starting Issues (lift pump power circuit) - Poodle - 11-02-2014 Good luck bud, hopefully this will sort it. RE: HDi Starting Issues (lift pump power circuit) - cully - 11-02-2014 you do realise fuse F35 15amp is in the engine bay fuse box ? RE: HDi Starting Issues (lift pump power circuit) - mcglynn - 11-02-2014 Yes cully lol. The wire between pin 4 on the relay plug and f35 is what seems to be broken, I was doing the tests in the dark so couldnt follow the wire. Hopefully be easier to follow today in daylight. RE: HDi Starting Issues (lift pump power circuit) - mcglynn - 11-02-2014 Ok the wire seems to go into the wing and along the chassis and back into the engine bay to the relay plug. Anyone got any hard info on this wire before I tackle it? Its the white one (110) from relay to F35. RE: HDi Starting Issues (lift pump power circuit) - cully - 11-02-2014 i suspect its wire number 120 not 110 ![]() route of wire starter motor 12+ terminal wire BB8 to relay pin 8 out relay pin 4 wire 120 to engine loom chassis plug pin 18 wire 120 to BH12 enginbay fues box F35 wire 120 out F35 wire number 121 to IC01J bulk head connector pin 1 wire 121 to IC96B connector infron gearstick pin 7A wire 121 to fuel pump pin 2 wire 121 out fuel pump pin4 wir M121 to MC66 Earth point @Bpillar drivers door low level wire M121 [attachment=13525] RE: HDi Starting Issues (lift pump power circuit) - mcglynn - 18-02-2014 Due to cullys help i sorted this problem last week. its been good since (touch wood) but the problem seemed to be the chassis multiplug, it wasnt corroded or the likes. I disconnected, blew it out and rconnected it. Perhaps a dry corroded earth connection or the likes. RE: HDi Starting Issues (lift pump power circuit) - DeeTurbo - 30-06-2014 Hi, could you please tell me where about this connector block in front of the gear stick as I can't find it. RE: HDi Starting Issues (lift pump power circuit) - cully - 30-06-2014 above the passengers right foot in my 6 ![]() RE: HDi Starting Issues (lift pump power circuit) - mcglynn - 30-06-2014 Yeah same place on the HDi. I'll double check. |
