Some of the SDI Vagcraps have bosch VP37 is it? Not sure if it can run veg or not.

RE: Bosch pump - Danny2009 - 30-11-2013

Sdi rovers can my mate had one and ran it on veg

RE: Bosch pump - Toms306 - 30-11-2013

Yeah I've heard you can run veg on the older SDi's, Fabia/Mk4 Golf etc.

RE: Bosch pump - Ruan - 01-12-2013

Generally if it's VP37 pumped it can run Veg - but be warned with most DIs, you're likely to gum the shit out the pistons and injectors when they're cold, Direct Injection engines don't keep that peak heat for long and from the veg burning so slowly, it just causes a gum all over the surfaces of the engine.

RE: Bosch pump - kernow_joe - 01-12-2013

So you reckon I could get some gumming issues Ruan? I'm running an Audi TDI (ahu) with a vp37 pump.
Guessing issue could be solved from running diesel/veg mix?

RE: Bosch pump - ally406 - 01-12-2013

With an IDI engine like the XUD, the fuel is not injected into the cylinder, so the uncombusted veg has limited contact with the rings. With DI engines this is obviously not the case, and when starting from cold you have incomplete combustion which causes a build up of polymerised veg. Think of the edges of an old frying pan, that's what's accumulating on the rings. Some folk never seem to have a problem, others get gumming issues after 10,000. Your mileage may vary, literally. The general advice is usually to twin tank a DI motor to avoid problems.

Plenty of XUD around anyway, got my 406 for £325, 99.9% of the time they have Bosch Smile

Sofim engines/Daily vans have Bosch pumps. Try to find a DI, they have a 12mm head Wink
