RE: 205 gti6 - Paul_13 - 22-02-2014 Some of you probably know my luck with GTI6 engines and shit luck has struck again. I split a hose on the way to work and seems as though I've blown the HG again... So I've decided to xud the thing with the td04 and hdi rods. I'll fix the HG on the 5dr diesel and put the t2 turbo on ice got spare. Swap the 11mm pump for the 9mm too. Put the quaife in the hdi box. So I'm on the hunt for a base model /diesel fuel for a 205 to get things started RE: 205 gti6 - Piggy - 22-02-2014 Not bad idea mate...you will see GTi6 power with 11mm n a td04. And more torque I expect RE: 205 DTI - Paul_13 - 22-02-2014 Run it on veg as well winner all round really I've had nothing but problems with gti6 engines and I've put up with them for long enough. RE: 205 GTI 6 - Paul_13 - 12-04-2014 Turns out I didn't blow the headgasket luckily so I've kept the petrol engine in. But i've had soooo much fun and games with the speedo cable and vss sensor of late... ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() After breaking the original one several posts up, I borrowed one off a freind and the only thing I can think that's happened is that the pin snapped off whilst driving and burnt the f*** out of the plug and then heating up the square link. Causing it to snap. This then happened to 2 other VSS sensors afterwards and ruined 2 VSS sensors. Should of replaced the loom I know but didn't have a spare loom to hand. I now have a spare VSS and loom thanks to Cheesegrater. So will try it tomorrow. Then this happened ![]() The speedo was sticking, quite humourous as when I went above 70 mph it shot up 140 mph [ ![]() A trip to see Anthony solved this, many thanks again. You've got me out of the s*it several times recently and i'm very grateful! You're a top geezer. Gave it a clean as well: ![]() ![]() ![]() RE: 205 GTI 6 - Niall - 12-04-2014 Bad luck with the sensors mate! Do love this car. Still after a nice 205 shell to replace my 306 eventually. RE: 205 GTI 6 - Tallguy_2 - 13-04-2014 Them speedos are a complete wank!! This looks sweet though mate, speedline sl434's look an absolute gem on these!! RE: 205 GTI 6 - Paul_13 - 08-06-2014 ![]() ![]() RE: 205 GTI 6 - procta - 08-06-2014 keep going paul, you will have it up and running! RE: 205 GTI 6 - Paul_13 - 01-11-2015 ![]() Transformation to diesel has begun! Just got to take the driveshafts out and lift the 6 engine out Then swap the quaiffe diff over to the hdi box I've got to put on. Bloody difficult working in a council garage! Not a lot of room! RE: 205 DTI! Given up with 6 engines after 11 failures! - bashbarnard - 01-11-2015 Yes derv ftw! Are you still going to run td04 and 11mm? RE: 205 DTI! Given up with 6 engines after 11 failures! - Paul_13 - 01-11-2015 Yep there's an 11mm pump on there already, going to look for a gt2056 at some point. RE: 205 DTI! Given up with 6 engines after 11 failures! - bashbarnard - 01-11-2015 They are pretty hard to find. Teddy had my old gt2052s for sale atm i think. Bought off me then never used it. RE: 205 DTI! Given up with 6 engines after 11 failures! - powerandtorque - 02-11-2015 Putting a dirty diesel engine in my old GTi - it's nothing short of sacrilege I tell thee! ![]() Still, I guess the GTi-6 boys can breath a sigh of relief that their engines aren't going to be on the endangered list anytime soon if you've ceased blowing them all up for the time being. I suggest the XUD boys buy up some spares while you can though, as if Paul's track record is anything to go by they're going to get thin on the ground pretty quickly... ![]() RE: 205 DTI! I remember borrowing WVN off Anthony when it was still a 1.6. Can't remember why though.....And now it's going to be a dirty diesel? WTF is it with you and GTi6's? Hate to think how many alloy Mi16s you'd kill! RE: 205 DTI! Given up with 6 engines after 11 failures! - Paul_13 - 23-12-2015 Got a replacement td04 to go on, mine has never been as I mustn't of aligned the housings correctly when I built it. The turbine was stuck and then freed off after a bit of persuasion, got a feeling it's f*cked. Was making some awful grinding noises. Would only max at 30psi. Going to be a hoot with the new one on. Slowly but surely getting round to doing this amongst all the family problems going on. A few boost pipes need replacing as things have been rubbing on them. Need to put the quaiffe in the hdi box too Looking forward to getting this back on the road RE: 205 DTI! Just got to put the new td04 in the engine and put it in ![]() RE: 205 DTI - gti6 engine removed - 7057sam - 05-03-2016 In treating project mate, love the sl's one of my all time favourite wheels. RE: 205 DTI - gti6 engine removed - Paul_13 - 06-03-2016 Swap the fuel tank Swap the fuel lines put the new td04 on Swap the quaiffe diff over into the hdi box engine in and then tackle the wiring which should be a doodle RE: 205 DTI - gti6 engine removed - Piggy - 06-03-2016 Diff envy RE: 205 DTI - gti6 engine removed - Paul_13 - 06-03-2016 ![]() RE: 205 DTI - gti6 engine removed - Paul_13 - 25-03-2016 ![]() RE: 205 DTI - gti6 engine removed - Paul_13 - 26-03-2016 Tomorrow's job is to convert the hdi box to 205 and fit the diff. Maybe put the gearbox on and turbo RE: 205 DTI - gti6 engine removed - Paul_13 - 27-03-2016 ![]() Gear lever linkage converted to 205 ![]() ![]() New ish bushes! ![]() What's in the blue baggy of goodness? ![]() RE: 205 DTI - gti6 engine removed - Paul_13 - 27-03-2016 We now have 1 quaiffe converted hdi box ready to go on ![]() RE: 205 DTI - gti6 engine removed - Paul_13 - 01-04-2016 Should have the box ready to go tomorrow. Next job is to clock the td04 replacement, what's the easiest way to get that bastard locating pin out? I was thinking centre punch and drill it out as I don't have a dremel Think that might of been why my last turbo was goosed, the cold side not sorting true and causing the turbine to get jammed. I'm thinking of tryng to completely max a 9mm pump including internal mods as I think the 11mm on there is giving funny misfiring/jumpy problem part throttle when warm. Be good to see how they worth and learn a bit Still need to crack on RE: 205 DTI - gti6 engine removed - Paul_13 - 02-04-2016 ![]() ![]() ![]() Just got to get rid of this pesky pin |
