RE: 1.6 16v 205 project - Craigus - 22-10-2013 Got this in the post today, should be fun sorting it out lol ![]() RE: 1.6 16v 205 project - Craigus - 22-11-2013 Little update: Boot is almost welded up but welder has packed in so thats on pause for now. Found a couple more little patches of rust aswell but not bad. Made a start on centre console today, cut out a plate for switches etc and started making a plate to mount the original 3 switches in. ![]() ![]() ![]() RE: 1.6 16v 205 project - bobertmate - 22-11-2013 16v ftw RE: 1.6 16v 205 project - Craigus - 13-12-2013 Done some work to the 106 lump today, just stripping it down for cleaning, painting and new gaskets/seals etc. ![]() ![]() ![]() RE: 1.6 16v 205 project - mikey b - 13-12-2013 Glad ta c you doing somet RE: 1.6 16v 205 project - Piggy - 13-12-2013 this will be a sweet little motor... get some porting done with the head off!! RE: 1.6 16v 205 project - miles - 13-12-2013 Not a bad conversion to do, a couple of minor issues with fitting it in but otherwise dead simple, Wiring is the easiest ever thanks to there not being much on the engine ![]() For reference RE: 1.6 16v 205 project - Craigus - 13-12-2013 You do a thread on your conversion on anothe forum? RE: 1.6 16v 205 project - miles - 13-12-2013 Nope, I rarely do other than add the odd picture on my FB pages RE: 1.6 16v 205 project - Craigus - 13-12-2013 Ahh i got most of my info off a thread with a yellow rallye lol RE: 1.6 16v 205 project - ozonehostile - 14-12-2013 Such a win motor. Tu5 ftmfw! What gearbox you using? RE: 1.6 16v 205 project - Craigus - 14-12-2013 (14-12-2013, 11:57 AM)ozonehostile Wrote: What gearbox you using? Gearbox is the headache i have at the moment haha. Gonna try using the 106 box with inner driveshaft ends off 106 on 205 driveshafts. RE: 1.6 16v 205 project - ozonehostile - 14-12-2013 My friend with a tu5j4 205 used the hubs and drive shafts off a pov spec 205 with a gti gearbox, had to shorten the one shaft because the Diff pin makes the gearbox stick out further on the 16v. Il ask him if he's got any pics :-) RE: 1.6 16v 205 project - Craigus - 14-12-2013 Yeah the diff pin on the gti box is why i can use the xs shafts Alright yeah would be helpful cheers RE: 1.6 16v 205 project - miles - 15-12-2013 The std MA box which fits the TU Iron block, shafts and hubs are all the same, Only 1.9 GTi models use a large hub spline, inner's are the same The MA diff just uses a large Sun and planet gear set up on higher power models RE: 1.6 16v 205 project - procta - 16-12-2013 a good read on that yellow 205, what came of that in the end? also how easy is it to do engine transplants and gearbox swops from other pugs and citrons with these? RE: 1.6 16v 205 project - miles - 17-12-2013 Any 205 from around 1990 have the engine mounts in the right place, Earlier TU engine and XY engine's had them in different positions which means extra work to mount the mount The yellow one should be MOT'd on Fri this week if everything goes to plan RE: 1.6 16v 205 project - Craigus - 28-01-2014 Bit of an update, Engine is all painted up and going back together now. ![]() ![]() ![]() RE: 1.6 16v 205 project - mikey b - 28-01-2014 Looking good RE: 1.6 16v 205 project - Tallguy_2 - 28-01-2014 That's going to be an excellent conversion, it should keep all the light and agile aspects of the car? There was a carbon roof skin floating around for sale the other day RE: 1.6 16v 205 project - Craigus - 28-01-2014 (28-01-2014, 07:29 PM)Tallguy_2 Wrote: There was a carbon roof skin floating around for sale the other day Where where? ![]() RE: 1.6 16v 205 project - Niall - 28-01-2014 Starting to look great although one thing. Have you painted the mating face for the manifold in that last pic? If so, clean it up back to bare metal otherwise you may have sealing issues. There is something really satisfying about a freshly built clean engine. Shame it won't stay like that for 5 minutes after the first start lol. RE: 1.6 16v 205 project - Tallguy_2 - 28-01-2014 I'll have a hunt for you mate, was a few weeks ago as I thought it would be a good idea for a 205 with GTi6 conversion I had a look at RE: 1.6 16v 205 project - Chris_90 - 28-01-2014 Looking great painted! Will keep my eye on this looking good ![]() RE: 1.6 16v 205 project - Frosty - 28-01-2014 Looks like you made a really good job of painting it Craig!
