Re: How to fit a gti inlet manifold to a 1.816v / 2.016v - Toms306 - 11-06-2012 Sam, can't you use the spring hose clips for it? Just like the golf fuel lines. ![]() Seriously though, they can't be too tight,.they clamp down just enough to keep the pipe secure......the standard 306 ones might even use that type of clip, can't remember though. RE: How to fit a gti inlet manifold to a 1.816v / 2.016v - Eeyore - 17-06-2012 Right here we go. At FCS I had the car rolling roaded again. RS Tuning (Leeds) RR @ 108hp with just a induction kit (ebay filter) FCS 2012 RR @ 123hp with GTI6 inlet manifold, service, De-cat and de-centre box.
So thats 15 more. The de-centre box pipe was blowing heavily in several places which should have brought it down a bit. There has been a few remarks about the rollers used at FCS etc but tbh you can always say anything about any RR. RE: How to fit a gti inlet manifold to a 1.816v / 2.016v - Niall - 17-06-2012 Glad to see some sort of proof that it works (C.A.R take note...). And I will say, your car was running fine until I....errm I mean someone unplugged one of your injectors. Just proof once again this is a worthwhile mod! RE: How to fit a gti inlet manifold to a 1.816v / 2.016v - spawn - 18-06-2012 Is there any issue with mpg, especially regarding 1.8s? RE: How to fit a gti inlet manifold to a 1.816v / 2.016v - Niall - 18-06-2012 (18-06-2012, 06:48 AM)spawn Wrote: Is there any issue with mpg, especially regarding 1.8s? Nope. Mine didn't change 1 bit. Well except for more hooning! RE: How to fit a gti inlet manifold to a 1.816v / 2.016v - Grant - 18-06-2012 Lol the only difference to mpg is the right foot getting addicted to the bwaaaarp. Good RR results though Sam. Good to get this cleared up ![]() RE: How to fit a gti inlet manifold to a 1.816v / 2.016v - spawn - 18-06-2012 Very very tempted to do this. RE: How to fit a gti inlet manifold to a 1.816v / 2.016v - Eeyore - 18-06-2012 Yep I had £20 to start with and put in £50 for all of the FCS traveling and track time and i got 350 miles. So withg the amount of hooning that went on that weekend Id say it would have been 400 to a full tank which is what it used to get when i first got it! ![]() RE: How to fit a gti inlet manifold to a 1.816v / 2.016v - swampy - 18-06-2012 If you can find them try and Mikalor fuel clamps, by far the best on the market!! Not cheap but very good and grip well and even around the hose As for bolts ![]() RE: How to fit a gti inlet manifold to a 1.816v / 2.016v - Niall - 18-06-2012 (18-06-2012, 02:33 PM)spawn Wrote: Very very tempted to do this. I've got a full inlet for sale... RE: How to fit a gti inlet manifold to a 1.816v / 2.016v - Eeyore - 11-07-2012 ok here is some evidence of improvements... Standard @ RS Tuning in Leeds- 108hp ![]() After GTI Manifold and with decat and no centrebox @ FCS mobile dyno with no fans - 123hp ![]() So thats a 15hp increase and with the exhaust not blowing in several places and with fans i reckon it would make a few more! RE: How to fit a gti inlet manifold to a 1.816v / 2.016v - Niall - 11-07-2012 Can't see the manifold making that much of a difference. Don't trust the dyno at fcs at all! That said I do think it makes a difference.....just not that much! RE: How to fit a gti inlet manifold to a 1.816v / 2.016v - samass - 11-07-2012 agree with niall. the only way to really see what difference this makes, is to do it on the same day, at the same dyno, with the same fuel, the same airflow, the same operator etc etc. the only variable should be the manifold, otherwise it isnt worth looking at. RE: How to fit a gti inlet manifold to a 1.816v / 2.016v - devilchris - 09-10-2013 Hello guys. I have a 306 S16. I disassembled the original intake manifold. I mounted the intake manifold of the 306 GTi. I'm stuck because I do not know how to connect some pipes. before I post the pictures and then I try to explain my doubts! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Speaking of the intake manifold S16 I understand that: 4 - the tube that sends the oil to the engine. 5 - are the two tubes that control the dual valve timing of the intake manifold. 6 - is a tube that arrives to the control unit to control the depression of the intake manifold. 7 - I do not know what is its function. 8 - I do not know what is its function. Speaking now of the intake manifold of the 306 GTi: 1 - I do not know! (I think it's a vacuum socket) 2 - is the aspiration for recycling oil vapors! (correct?) 3 - is the aspiration of air to keep the engine at idle. Now let's talk about what I did not understand. In the transition from collector to collector S16 GTI there are 2 or 3 small tubes that do not know where to connect. 5 - where do I connect the pipes n. 5 that in the collector S16 commanded the double timing? 6 - The tube n 6 arrives at the control unit. Where do I connect the collector of the GTI? 7 - Where do I connect the pipe n. 7 in the intake manifold of the 306 GTI? 1000 Thanks RE: How to fit a gti inlet manifold to a 1.816v / 2.016v - devilchris - 12-10-2013 I have another question ... in the intake manifold RFY there is a tube that goes towards the pump of the brake. See the photos below to understand the way the yellow line! ![]() passes for "a" and splits into 2 directions! What is "a"? a tube goes to the master cylinder! ![]() a tube goes to "b"! The machine is fine. I only have one doubt. I have not connected the tube No. 8. I put a plug in the part where you put the engine oil. is that correct? RE: How to fit a gti inlet manifold to a 1.816v / 2.016v - Dg95pug306 - 08-06-2014 Hi, need some help, i have bought a gti 6 inlet manifold for my 1.8 16v and i'm trying to figure out where the wire for the grey bottom sensor ( A white mini plastic in the throttle body, air sensor i think), i simply can't find the wire which needs to go on there! And another thing is on the top on the manifold there's a some kind of a broken plastic pipe maybe for the brake servo i think, but how do i get that plastic off, or should it be on the manifold? ![]() RE: How to fit a gti inlet manifold to a 1.816v / 2.016v - Bishop - 16-07-2019 Great guide, makes me want to do this to my 1.8, though I'd have to source from the UK as I have no chance of sourcing one here in Australia. The plastic manifold makes me nervous in a 20 year old car, considering how brittle I'm finding the other engine bay plastics thus far. |
