Jake's Black PH1 DTuuuurbo. - Jake - 28-03-2012 Why is this happening? Water pump has gone! And now this is happening? ![]() Blue smoke out of the exhaust too! Head gasket? Re: Jake's Black PH1 DTuuuurbo. - strictly_perv - 28-03-2012 How's the coolant? It could be piston rings ![]() Jake's Black PH1 DTuuuurbo. - Jake - 28-03-2012 None existent, the water pump has died and promptly ejected all my radiators Contents on to the floor. Would piston rings require a new block? Yeah more than likely. Best have that head off and investigate. Hope it's just the head gasket. Re: Jake's Black PH1 DTuuuurbo. - silverzx - 28-03-2012 That doesn't look to good, hopefully its nothing to serious though. Yeah the heads coming off and getting skimmed on Saturday but I really do think that it's something more than that! Shame though the engine is only on 75k. Re: Jake's Black PH1 DTuuuurbo. - Connor - 28-03-2012 Make sure the head is tested and not just skimmed Jake's Black PH1 DTuuuurbo. - Jake - 28-03-2012 What do you mean conner, quite new to this whole head gasket failure thing! Edit : Connor? Sp? Re: Jake's Black PH1 DTuuuurbo. - darrenjlobb - 28-03-2012 What makes you think the waterpump is gone ? Sure its not just by all in all? Or is pump itself leaking ? Pretty sure the pump is leaking, . Start with Empty rad -> 3L or water In the rad. All pisses out of an area just behind the cam belt, just presume its the water pump.. Re: Jake's Black PH1 DTuuuurbo. - Connor - 28-03-2012 Don't forget theres a plastic water distributor down the back of the block in that area Jake's Black PH1 DTuuuurbo. - Jake - 28-03-2012 Hmm yeah I remember someone saying about that! , as said I will be taking a proper look at it over the weekend, and deciding the plan of action then, I may not even need to get the head machined yet! Might not have warped! Could be an easy fix, ( but As we all know it's never that simple !) Re: Jake's Black PH1 DTuuuurbo. - Toms306 - 29-03-2012 You haven't popped w core plug have you? I dunno where they are on a dt so might be wrong area though. Re: Jake's Black PH1 DTuuuurbo. - Dan! - 29-03-2012 We dont know whats wrong yet. My diagnosis of waterpump was literally from sticking my head under the car and having a quick look. I wasnt in the situation to start stipping the engine down to check everything, but il remember to check water distributer and core plug. I suppose saying the waterpump has gone isnt strictly true, probably just the gasket between pump and block, but its worth changing anyway once its all apart. Re: Jake's Black PH1 DTuuuurbo. - darrenjlobb - 29-03-2012 If the pumps leaking its most likely coming from the shaft, so will need replacing, be suprised tho as surely iris has this thing serviced up well ? Re: Jake's Black PH1 DTuuuurbo. - strictly_perv - 29-03-2012 Don't forget Jake mentioned blue smoke out the exhaust. So it's burning oil somewhere. Check the bores for any scores and pistons for damage. Re: Jake's Black PH1 DTuuuurbo. - Dan! - 29-03-2012 Yeah, properly pouring blue smoke out even at idle when I met up with him, not good at all. Would be a real bastard if the rings are fecked, especially considering the mileage this engine has done. Re: Jake's Black PH1 DTuuuurbo. - mark_airey - 29-03-2012 Dan! Milage the engine has done or mileage the clocks say its done? and if its pouring out blue smoke I would check the intake side of things after the turbo just in case its that blasting oil down the intake! |
