Not terrible, not perfect. No real figures to compare to. What was the results of compression test? RE: Project 16v #theLEMOAN - Piggy - 31-10-2017 3 cylinders around 350psi. One cylinder at 250psi. Tiggy' tested an 8v stock untouched HDi... 350psi on all 4 cylinders. Project 16v #theLEMOAN - dr_jekyll - 31-10-2017 Only just looked at tge thread again. Those wheels look ace!!!!!! Really suit the build Dont even dare compression test my engine. Just gonna give up and get on building a fresh lump, tom hortons very kindly sorted direct fitting arps for me just to go overkill. Will perhaps never need them but you only know when its too late. Future proofing never hurt Sent from my SM-G920F using Tapatalk RE: Project 16v #theLEMOAN - Piggy - 31-10-2017 If you havnt needed ARPs... You havnt made much power ![]() RE: Project 16v #theLEMOAN - Pingaz - 06-11-2017 Woah !! Nice wheels !! 20mm spacer on the rear ? RE: Project 16v #theLEMOAN - Piggy - 07-11-2017 Thought I'd pull the radio to find serial number and try and sort the code... Found code in pen written on body of radio...win. Found lost key. Annoying. Brake brackets collecting Sunday and radiator outlet moving too ready for fitting RE: Project 16v #theLEMOAN - Piggy - 12-11-2017 https://youtu.be/BMGD0rjc5Ic RE: Project 16v #theLEMOAN - Piggy - 12-11-2017 Not. A. Good. Day. RE: Project 16v #theLEMOAN - welshpug - 13-11-2017 ahh that would do it. collet unseated/not firmly fitted and pinged out? RE: Project 16v #theLEMOAN - Ruan - 13-11-2017 Valve springs cracked FSR - two different engines with different springs had the same failure mode. RE: Project 16v #theLEMOAN - Mighty306 - 13-11-2017 Really sorry to see that Piggy. Another set-back you really didn't need. ![]() RE: Project 16v #theLEMOAN - Piggy - 13-11-2017 RE: Project 16v #theLEMOAN - Mighty306 - 13-11-2017 Oh s**t! ![]() RE: Project 16v #theLEMOAN - Piggy - 13-11-2017 Head badly damaged. Hope this doesn't deter you and you keep on going RE: Project 16v #theLEMOAN - welshpug - 14-11-2017 have seen far far worse! still a bummer though. RE: Project 16v #theLEMOAN - bashbarnard - 14-11-2017 bugger me man this proper sucks!! The lemoan is definatly earning its name here!! anything i can do to help source parts etc drop me a message and ill help where i can. RE: Project 16v #theLEMOAN - Piggy - 15-11-2017 Thanks all. Had many offers of parts which is super kind and may indeed keep this going. Company who supplied springs has been good and on inspection of the snapped spring has seen its a material fault They have asked for a price on parts to put right. Next step is finding a different company to make springs! Tbh. I was ready to walk away from it Sunday evening. I'm coming round now with some light from tunnels from different angles appearing Head not worth repair, valve seat is destroyed but so is the head behind the valve seat. RE: Project 16v #theLEMOAN - Mighty306 - 15-11-2017 Good to hear it's not defeated you! There's so much other stuff you've done which won't have to be repeated. Once the piston is sorted I'd be tempted to stick a standard DW10/12 16v head on there for a bit with the boost dialled down just to have it running for a while, but that's just me. Was just browsing eBay & found one for about £130 quid but it's disappeared now. Not you was it?!! RE: Project 16v #theLEMOAN - Piggy - 16-11-2017 It wasn't boost related. I was cruising off boost at the time this happened. I'm still on a pretty mild map tbh. Not much more boost than stock. RE: Project 16v #theLEMOAN - Mighty306 - 16-11-2017 Ah, right. Very good luck with finding everything you need to get it back on track. Does sound like you're going to get a lot of support in achieving that. RE: Project 16v #theLEMOAN - unclebeast - 16-11-2017 ...was it the one that was already down 100 on compression test that dropped the valve Piggy? No. Different cylinder. RE: Project 16v #theLEMOAN - welshpug - 16-11-2017 what kind of spec were the springs? anything from another engine suitable? seems for the 16v xu's the piper spring set is the same for vauxhall and ford cosworth engines. Not as yet no, a lot of checking, measuring etc was done to see if same found elsewhere but no joy. |
