Intercooler setup done

RE: Project Truck Turbo MkII, nearly on the road - ozonehostile - 26-12-2013

Made a break from all the Xmas crap and had a full day at the shed.

Refilled all the fluids, tidied up some engine bay wiring, modifies the ph3 light plugs to take ph1 twin optic lights, dug out all the phase 1 bits from the piles of stuff in the shed, moved all the intercooler hoses further back where I could and a million other little bits that I can't even remember.

Anyway I left this evening with the car looking a bit more complete. Il get some black paint 2moz and get the grill and hockey sticks the right colour :-)

And yes that is a ph3 bumper lol

Yeah man Smile

RE: Project Truck Turbo MkII, nearly on the road - ozonehostile - 27-12-2013

Not a great deal of changes today, just made a proper adapter loom for the phase 1 lights , bought a battery box and an air horn plus some other misc because racecar interior bits

Decided against the phase 3 front bumper and just waiting to get hold of a decent ph1 sports bumper

Also need a black passenger side wing if anyone has one?

RE: Project Truck Turbo MkII, nearly on the road - ozonehostile - 29-12-2013

Today is hopefully starting day. Put the wheels back on last night and jeez the calipers are close to the rim. Clears them though so happy days

Hopefully an update later with a still intact engine haha

RE: Project Truck Turbo MkII, nearly on the road - Piggy - 29-12-2013

What size rims?

I would be worried at that distance Undecided

Why? A lot of manufacturers run their brakes stupidly close as standard. Nothing to worry about there providing it's all bolted up properly!

What about heat expansion? Could foul them if they get hot?

*could be talking out my arse*

This for sure

We ran tds 5 spoke equivilants of these on a rally festa...tarmac setup had brembos that ran this close...

Were fine when just driving round but once on track or stage...they were grinding and sparking by the end and we had to space the wheels 3mm

I imagine those callipers will be getting a shave once you start hooning!

RE: Project Truck Turbo MkII, nearly on the road - ozonehostile - 29-12-2013

I think they look closer in the pic, I'd say they're no closer than gti6 calipers are behind cyclones.

And they're 16" rims piggy

I haven't got a picture, but imagine if you will a t2 manifold with the bottom cut off and a big piece of exhaust pipe welded on lol

RE: Project Truck Turbo MkII, nearly on the road - ozonehostile - 29-12-2013

Bled the brakes Earlier, filled up the rad and oil levels etc, dug out a battery and went for a start.

Started first time!

Only issue is the heater matrix hoses are leaking slightly at the bulkhead fitting which sucks, apart from that though, no other leaks :-)

RE: Project Truck Turbo MkII, nearly on the road - Piggy - 29-12-2013

RE: Project Truck Turbo MkII, nearly on the road - sam - 29-12-2013

RE: Project Truck Turbo MkII, nearly on the road - ozonehostile - 29-12-2013

I remembered to film first start this time. Started really well considering it's been 6 months or so since the last time it was running

Yeah how f*cking dare your phone go off when recording something so important haha

RE: Project Truck Turbo MkII, nearly on the road - mikey b - 29-12-2013

Sounds good what's running in the back ground

RE: Project Truck Turbo MkII, nearly on the road - ozonehostile - 29-12-2013

It's going to be moving to the new workshop next week. Going to be able to get so much done then. Already have a revised route for the intercooler pipework, the dash needs to come out for the 3rd time to sort the leaking matrix and il finally have electric so I can finish soldering all the gauges in.

Oh and it's going to need lowering again. With the huge weight reduction it's almost standard ride height again lol
