That fuel pipe would be more effective wrapped around the rad pipe a couple times, and it would also take some of the length out of it Wink

Yer I did that first time round but it kinked the pipe so took it off. Hopefully it's only temporary till I fix the standard housing anyway

RE: chris_90 106 derv project, updates :) - Poodle - 02-10-2013

Twist the pipe in your fingers as you go, will stop it from folding/kinking. Wink

The stock filter housing is a load of shit, i'd keep it like that myself.

RE: chris_90 106 derv project, updates :) - Piggy - 02-10-2013

correct me if I am wrong though but the rad pipes will only get hot enough to transfer some heat to the fuel lines when the engine is so hot that the stat opens...which isnt very often on these.
the OEM housing starts heating as soon as engine makes heat

tbh im thinking of keeping it as it is but its if i run in to issues when its colder

I have no idea piggy tbh but im not fussed tbh im running filtered waste oil and im surprised how thin it is and now ive sorted the air ingress issue its been bang on slight lumpy idle with 100% veg oil but soon as i drive it about a mile it sorts its self out so its all good, if needs be dont mind dropping a bit of derv in when its winter just to help it out abit but till it gets colder will have to see.

Not sure if its reading right tho as a couple of times last night it hit 120 in traffic (then fan kicked in) sits at 85/90 tho when driving not sure what the crack is with it tho.....

Comments welcome

RE: chris_90 106 derv project, temp gauge fitted :) - Poodle - 06-10-2013

I can't work out where that is you've mounted it too..?

RE: chris_90 106 derv project, temp gauge fitted :) - Piggy - 06-10-2013

little dash panel to the right of steering wheel but before centre blowers!
my mrs has a dash dim control there.

120seems very high to be honest. shouldnt get that hot...my mrs 106nad never gets hot enough for the fans to kick in in traffic!

Thing is i dont no if the gauge is reading right or not, but i no i need a new radiator soon as mine is leaking ever so slightly so will get one soon and fit a new thermostat at same time so sure that will help it out.

Costing me a fortune this thing got a right list of things it needs Undecided

Glow plugs
Radiator
Thermostat
Front and rear brake pads
Rear axle
Rear shocks
washer jet pipe ( as arch guard deiced to fall out and pipe rubbed on tyre Angry )
Track rod ends/tracking

Thats all i can think of at min but im sure theres more, and its gotta be sorted before mot (december 2nd) gonna be skint thats for sure. Some times think is it worth while spending this much on it Undecided

Been at dyno day to day video here from first run was 59hp and 90'ish ftlbs torque will get exact figures another day.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PfTD6hxPDsY&feature=youtube_gdata_player

Turned Fuel down and second run pulled 61.5hp and 70ish ftlbs torque

Maybe one day or maybe I won't not sure tbh just loving the reliability of it and if I strap a turbo to it I can grantee something will brake in a daily basis lol

It is handy but would recommend the next one up 20ton Jack as the 4 ton is good but could have done with that extra pressure when splitting the axle Smile
