Sup bitches!!!

Iam looking at getting the better half a guitar for crimbo! She wants to learn, now I could ask her bro or her dad as they are both in music in one way or another! But I don't want to lol

Basically I was thinking your standard 6 string acoustic, but other than that I know f*ck all, would like a fairly decent one but don't now

A, which one?
B, how much?

Help a brother out

Many thanks people
get her a banjo. just make sure she doesn't snap the string.
Thanks Sam ha ha
If you have a lot to throw at in and know it will be used go for a tanglewood. Trust me. Money well invested
on a more serious note, yes, what matt said. good guitars.
Haha Sam your being serious? Wtf man, this never happens

Ha ha ha cheers Matt!

And you Sam!! I think lol knobber
IMO a Electro-Acoustic, best of both worlds...

Tanglewoods are nice, people will take the piss but IMO Squires are not bad at all, Yamahas are good beginner guitars too, had a play on a few Yamahas and yes they are mass produced, but they do sound lovely and had IMO a surprisingly nice action considering...
Think she would prefer acoustic tbh she can take it anywhere then! She's always been into it, she used to write her own songs, and she can fooking sing! even had a recording contract, hasn't written a song for years! Noticed she's been writing shit down lately, and always made noises about learning the guitar. So thought I'd nudge her in the right direction lol
Electro accustic ftmfw. The misses plays one, it's a weird make but sounds sick.

She can take an electric acoustic anywhere. It's the same as an acoustic untill you plug it into an amp.
So she would get an acoustic with the option to crank up the volume if she ever wanted too!
I had a Westfield which was a nice guitar, was given to me though so not sure how much it was worth.

Could try going into local music shop?
The ones by me have always been really helpful!
Turner make a good acoustic and have a bit of a price range, that's what i'd get all day atm, spend as much as you can but 300ish will get you a fairly decent one . . .

and yes i do dabble in music . .Wink

I can't really advise on acoustic because I've never really dabbled, but if she wants electric you really can't beat a Fender Strat to start with. Predictable I know but it's an easy starter guitar that you can really grow into, and the "Squire by Fender" stuff isn't bad and is very cheap...

I started on a Strat before I got my SG and I still play it now and again.

nowt wrong with a Strat as you say Liam, however they do nothing for me with their acoustic stuff . .bit crap tbqh . .Smile
+1 for tanglewood here!
However as said above there are a few nice beginners yamahas around, my first guitar was a Pacifica and it was/is great, still use it 14 years later!

that's an electric though mate . . he's after an acoustic . . .Smile
I'll ask my Sister what she'd reccommend later. She usually plays keys (anything less than a Roland keyboard is apparently 'shit') but also plays guitar and bass as well and I think she was looking into a new guitar for xmas so may have an idea of whats about atm.

However she's a music student so obviously will be in bed till about 2pm..... lol

Oh it definitely happened. She drives me f*cking mad with piano music blasting and singing all the damn time. Dodgy lol

It's ok though, I make her listen to some PROPER music when she comes in the car! Big Grin

Yeah I know, I was just saying that yams are actually quite good and used the Pacifica as an example.
I actually recommend tanglewood to start with in agreement with Matt.
I am the music man I come from far away...what can I play....
i'll say it again . . .TURNER . . . . . .Smile
I also agree with Matt very good. Although tbh if it was me I would go for tangle wood. /brandwhore

And Tom you have a sister? She fit?

a lot of it's down to how much you spend though Matt ain't it? . . . .i've played some quite nasty cheaper Tanglewood guitars before, pay a bit more though and they're decent . . . . . .i can't say enough about Turners though, i've played about 5 different ones of varying price 350-800 and they've all been real good players with a solid balanced sound . .Smile

or if money's no object get her a Martin or a Taylor . . .
Ohhhhh Taylor!!! Man I miss playing. So gunna buy a new guitar on payday

And yeah very much about price. Played a £500 tanglewood and it was porn.

But then played a turner before and it was half the price and sounded equally as epic
I play the piano. Which means I clearly know what guitar you want more than any of these so-called guitarists...

yeah you so obviously need a Steinway guitar . . . .Wink
Just make sure you get one with strings ey ed?
