As in title, I have had a really good search and can't find the info I need..

Firstly, does anyone know if this is possible, I.e, will the GTi6 box fit in the first place?

Secondly, I assume I will have to change the final drive to one off a diesel to get the revs down (ideal would be just under 2k RPM at 70MPH)

Just messing with ideas at the moment, this would be a project for when I change the clutch.

Cheers,
Iirc yes it will fit and yes the ratios are horribly wrong as the 6 goes 2k further up the rev guage?
I think the top speed wohld have been like 90 if you keep the gears
iv asked this before, basicly its not worth even trying, change the final drive, ye good idea but you need to change the pinion gear to, and its totaly different to anything else, you could buy a custom final drive and pinion at about £600

Why can't I use the final drive from a HDi box?

Is it as simple as it won't fit or am I missing the point here?
The 6 F/D is longer than the hdi one IIRC.
Sad bad times. Any other ways of getting 6 gears in my HDi?
Yea, a 6 speed hdi box, but its a ball ache to fit it and get everything working.
A lad over on TDOCUK fitted a 6 box to an XUD, think top speed is 105
Bet it accelerates like the clappers though!
Doubt it, you'd probably spend more time changing gear than in gear lol
Then theres changing the steering rack aswell
Feck that, just weld a couple of washers to the stop on the hub lol
